She watches more I shouldn’t be alive, and untold stories of the ER, than is probably good for her dramatic sensibilities.

She's the mother of six children who keep her on her toes most of the time. And the wife to a man who doesn’t understand why she’s always trying to change the endings of the movies she doesn’t like, or reading the last page of the book, before deciding to read it.

I thought this was a pretty good story; I liked the message. Parts were well-written, while other parts seemed a little stilted &/or forced. I thought some parts were not true to the real world regarding workplace behavior. Katie’s decision to keep the truth of her husband’s death for as long as she did was not really understandable. Landon’s standards were honorable, which made me like him more. I will still probably read more by this author. Once I read the author’s notes, I liked a part near the end even more.

The Judeo-Christian ethic was evident throughout, though not in-your-face—a little more at the end, which was really sweet. I’m glad that Josh is going to get his own story, because he is a great friend to Katie.

My rating is 4 stars minus 1/2 star for errors, rounded up to 4. My rating is based on the genre of sweet Christian romance.

This book did a great job of immediately pulling me into it and keeping me there. I liked the characters & the story so much.

Unfortunately, Katie's deception about her marriage goes on for so long that it became increasingly difficult to watch Landon's misery. At the very latest, it should have come out while they were in NY & things were getting awkward with Landon about her relationship with Josh.

It also was out of place for Katie to be carelessly touching & hugging her boss, especially given the sexual harassment she had endured at her previous job.

And finally, while it is probably somewhat realistic (sadly), & allows Landon to show how much he loves Katie, Ava's evil lawsuit jackpot is a prickly thorn in the happily-ever-after. It begged for her to get hit with some kind of self-inflicted karma moment.

So, overall, I liked the story, it just wasn't as smooth a ride as I would have enjoyed.

The letter near the end of the story is so incredibly sweet - and even more so after reading the author's note

It was time, Davina was in school full time and if she could just land this job it would make things so much easier at home. The past year had not been easy with the loss of her husband and no income. Land on was amazed at the skills her resume spoke of and offered her the dream job. The attraction between Katie and Landon brought out feelings neither was ready to address. A dissatisfied coworker creating controversy keeps life interesting. Great reading and support for true values.
