Set in the Threadbare Universe

A very entertaining LitRPG story set in the Threadbare Universe about a havlen (aka halfling/hobbit) girl who yearns for adventure when the rest of her town is content with a boring, slow paced life. Only, when she gets what she wishes for, things get complicated fast. There is good world building, action, and adventure.

Relating to the Threadbare series, if you’ve read that I think you’ll enjoy this story too. It just may take a little while. The story starts off a bit slow and doesn’t grab you right away like Threadbare does but the beginning section does do a good job of world building, RPGing the Havelen race, and developing background and motivation for the main character (MC). However, by the 16% mark the story really picks up and gets much more interesting and develops into something very entertaining. Additionally, there are also cross over story elements between the two series, though I’ll be upfront and say Threadbare does not show up in this story.

Game mechanic wise, this story shares the same RPG mechanics that Threadbare does including the very flexible job system. It does a consistent job of carrying over those game elements and making them part of the world culture.

Overall, I had a pretty good time with the novel once it got past the setup phase. The job system is great and allows for some really neat combo skills and multiclassing. The story also introduces some very cool story elements for the universe that have great storytelling potential.

Genuine feeling of seeing the RPG world from a NPC point of view

I loved how well the author did in explaining how a NPC might view the crazyness of the worldview changes that would happen as their world turns into a forum for gamers:

The insane mass murder of the world's citizens by various factions.
The the strange overwhelming desire of most of the characters to mindlessly insist on never changing from the way things currently exist.
The weird new (but convenient) status popups and the rivalry they cause.
Stange undying qualities of some adventurers (which in this case doesn't really affect the lives of people in out-of-the-way villages).

I kind of avoided the threadbear series as I really didn't want to read about the adventures of a teddy bear but the unique and fun contribution of fox 'toy' golum character (who is as real a contributor as any troll, adventurer, or halfling) in this story has changed my mind. I am about to start on a threadbear adventure.

Threadbare was great but this is even better, well written and a nice leaping on point- you don't need to have read the Threadbare series, just know that this takes place in a world where RPG mechanics became prevalent a generation ago. The world is an odd mix of fairy tales, fantasy, and the struggle with the almighty Words that seem to rule the characters' lives, and unfolds naturally as Chase explores beyond her village.

I very much liked the busy beginning of this one. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed getting to see more of the author's world from a different point of view. These books have had an interesting combination of sweet and dark with a younger POV than many stories in the LitRPG/GameLit genres. A fun easy read in a series I will definitely follow.

This is set in the same world as the Threadbare series. The characters are excellent, and the contrast between adorable (halflings and toy golems) and horrific (zombie murder clowns) really works well. Lots of action and clever spots where the heroine thinks her way out of danger instead of fighting.

One of the best LitRPG authors out there.

Looking forward to book 2.

Another great book. Starts off in the same universe as "Threadbare". So a few of the elements will carry over. This time we are introduced to a halfling (halven) named Chase. Like most stories. It starts off with our heroin wanting more to her life. But what she gets is more than she expected than her books ever told. A recommended read with lots of humor and suddle references to our real world. Very much worth a read. Even if the book is aimed more towards young adults. The older readers will still find it a good read. I have the foresight that this book will be another book people will want to add to their collection!

This is a sequel to the threadbear trilogy, if you liked that one you will enjoy this one as well.
The MC is great, i relly enjoy this world that Seiple has built, it fantasy, absurdity, humor and great characters.
Im really looking forward to more from this author and this serie.
