Despite another review with a photo that said that this foam was inconsistent and not 1/2 inch, after you let it expand from being shrink wrapped it IS uniformly 1/2 inch thick. I bought it to make custom storage boxes for my game miniatures and it works nicely (in a 2 inch deep box). I cut it with a razor/utility knife and glued it to the box with hot glue.
