From the moment Saywer met Cass he wanted to get to know her better. But Cass was a recovering drug addict and he was a pharmacist, not a good combination so she would rather stay away from him. But he was not easily discouraged and his gentle way and promises to not hurt her, broke down her walls. And she let herself believe that she may be enough for him, other than in past relationships. Until the day everything fell to pieces and he left her without much of an explanation, leaving her in despair. This is the story of a woman having to believe in herself after being in an abusive marriage with a man who got her hooked on drugs, who needs to learn the value of her own strength. Saywer also needs to learn that he has to face his past and cannot punish Cass for something which happened in his youth. This is an emotional love story but also so much more than that, it shows us the troubles and challenges our youth has to live with and that we need to educate and support them. And one of the most valuable lessons of all - lean on family and when you are weak, lean on those who love you. Another excellent book from this author.

Sawyer Ferris doesn’t want for much. The leather-wearing, motorcycle-riding pharmacist grew up in a wealthy, loving family. His parents are still happily married, his sister recently found her true love, and Sawyer owns an apothecary in the beautiful, small resort town of Krysset, Minnesota. His friends are true blue, and his customers are loyal. The only thing missing in Sawyer’s life is a woman of his own to love.

Cass Donovan is a recovering addict who wants a lot of things. She wants to stay clean another day. But she wants her next hit almost as badly. Cass moves to town as the new school counselor and Sawyer wants to know her more. They each have challenges from their past they want to keep in the past. Sawyer is dealing with the death of his significant other and Cass is dealing with drug addiction and abusive ex husband. Two unlikely people who are attracted to each other but are they the one person they each need to heal from their pasts? An amazing story line with layers that draw the reader in.

Interesting and thought-provoking

This book really packs an emotional punch and delves into some real life current events that are happening in the drug/opioid crisis. I didn't think it would be such an intense story based on the blurb but once I got into it and got invested in the characters, it was a hard book to put down. Lengthy, but thought-provoking and enjoyable at the same time. Even though there is quite a bit of turmoil and sadness in this story, there were times of joy and happiness and even some steamy times between Sawyer and Cass. Great secondary characters that fit the whole "small town" feel of the Krysset community. This was an emotional, bittersweet read but one that I would definitely recommend. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Sawyer and Cass each have challenging past that they are trying to leave behind. For Sawyer it is the death of his significant other's twice he lost. For Cass it is drug addiction and an abusive ex husband. When their paths crossed, Cass was drawn to Sawyer. When she found out who and what he does, it gave her pause but the lure to him was intense. Sawyer is as captivated with Cass. Can these two be the balm that will heal and jump start their lives. This story draws you in with all of its layers and how Cass and Sawyer weathers the storm. It is an amazing story about the journey of two people who deserve a second chance for love.

In the town of Krysset, everyone knows everyone. Of course, you might know someone, even the mistakes they make, but no one knows everything that makes up a person. Heartaches and sorrows. Sawyer has lived there his entire life and he is an easygoing pharmacist. When school counselor Cass moves to town, he is smitten. The only problem is that Cass has heartaches and problems she has worked hard to overcome. Yep, seems like Sawyer is an open book until it counts and Cass's past flares up. Suddently, all the hidden pieces of Sawyer that no one in this little town ever knew come roaring back and he can't face it all happening again. If it means he can't be with Cass, then so be it. Can he stick to it? Can he admit his mistake and find a way to overcome his own past and fears? Where does this leave Cass who finally trust someone? Who will be there for her when her past is thrown in her face? This was a really good story. Deep and sometimes sad, sexy, but heartwarming too.
