NOT THE DELUXE EDITION CD

THIS IS NOT THE DELUXE EDITION!!!!! Amazon told me I was buying the deluxe edition as a CD and that is not what this is. If you are looking at the black cover you are looking at a CD with only 11 songs not all of the music. The music is great, but this is not the product I was told I was buying so I am extremely dissatisfied.

This is updated from my previous review from December 11, 2019. At that time I gave one-star because of the Amazon's purchase issue, where Amazon Music suddenly gave me error message about my purchase of the Frozen 2 Deluxe Edition being unavailable, after which Amazon reps couldn't decide what the official explanation was. After a few weeks and a re-purchase later, it seems like the Deluxe Edition is working fine again.

First off, the Deluxe Edition is totally worth it for me just because it has some really cute extra songs ("Get This Right" is my favorite) AND the film score. Disney's been annoyingly erratic about releasing film scores ("Short Hair" from Mulan is forevermore my pet peeve) and I was very happy that Frozen Deluxe Edition offered everything.

But where's the CD version, Disney?? Call me old-fashioned, but I LIKE owning CDs with pretty artwork and booklets. To add insult to injury, guess who got SUPER Deluxe Edition 3-CD set with gorgeous postcards? Japan.

Disney: 5-star music, 2-star fan treatment. In short, if you're looking for the physical CD-set of the Deluxe Edition, this ain't it.

My four year old is a huge Frozen fan. I cannot tell you how many times we listened to the original soundtrack. According to my kid, the new songs are just as good. So we've been listening to the Frozen 2 album on repeat since I purchased it.

And I dig a lot of the songs, too -- "Into the Unknown" is especially fantastic, once I was able to listen to the full song -- but Kristoff's very-80s-power-ballad, "Lost in the Woods," is a bit much for me. Please note that "The Next Right Thing" deals with some dark themes, so if you are getting this for young kids, I would recommend you screen to the song first. (The song makes it *seem* like Elsa has died and Anna is mourning her death.)

Really digging the new songs! Some I think are better than the first film, while others, I'm not gelling with just yet. Will certainly give them a chance, waiting to see what they're like in the context of the movie. But without a doubt, outstanding performances by all, with yet another round of earworms for years to come -- the Lopez's sure know how to write 'em! And another truly phenomenal score by Christophe Beck, absolutely gorgeous! The regular edition of the "Frozen 2" soundtrack does not include Mr. Beck's compositions, so for the full effect, do "the next right thing" and treat yourself to this Deluxe Edition!

I ordered this as soon as we got home from seeing the movie and the songs are wonderful... the CD is worth it for Idina Menzel’s voice alone, but everyone in the cast, it goes without saying, is phenomenal at what they do. I’m particularly awed by the range of emotion we get from Kristen Bell as Anna.

My family noted that the soundtrack seemed quite short compared to some of the other Disney movie soundtracks we like, such as the Moana soundtrack and the one for the original Frozen film. I’m not sure how much was left out, but the one song I really wish they’d included here is the beautiful song of welcome performed by the Northuldrans when they learn the origin of Anna and Elsa’s mother.

Not impressed by this soundtrack as I purchased on 11/14/19 & listened to it on 11/16/19 before movie released 11/22/19. Its best song was one sung by Kristoff/actor Jonathan Groff. I became a big fan of Kristen Bell after the first Frozen movie. But the songs on this 2nd soundtrack aren't as fun & exciting as the first movie; mostly boring. Hopefully the movie lives up to its previews.
