Due to the fact that it is written in a non-didactic manner, with occasional burst of humor, the author kept my attention throughout. Dr. Krygowski writes from experience, and her real life vignettes add authenticity to the book. Another unexpected feature of the book is the inclusion of a chapter on weight. However, as a doctor, she is painfully aware of the health and therefore the financial implications of being overweight, and the fact that impaired health affects earning potential and the ability to engage in activities such as travel and hobbies. Her advice on reaching and maintaining an optimal weight bears serious consideration. Perhaps what most endeared me to the book, however, is the fact that it is not a "one size fits all" prescription of regimented steps toward financial freedom. Instead, the reader is encouraged to look inside themselves, assess their own life goals and priorities, and make decisions based not on the expectations of others, but instead on their own personalized analysis of what brings them joy.
Doctors have been known for flashing their status symbols, but what constitutes a worthy status symbol is changing. Goodbye, sports cars and McMansions. Hello FIRE! The ultimate status symbol is having the freedom and time to live as you please. This book will help you get a few steps closer to that goal.
