It did work in the North Texas Metroplex area. I had the trap secured to my fence as I'd caught rats running along the fence support on my security cameras before. Peanut butter worked well for the bait. It took a week, and I caught the rat looking at it a couple nights after I installed from footage on the security camera. Four days later I saw that the trap was not on the fence, and I could see the rat was alive and caught in the trap on the ground. Either it struggling or the tension when the trap sprung made the trap 'jump' off the fence where it was secured. I had to drown the rat in a bucket of water while still in the trap. This is a bit gruesome, and I don't like the idea that it may have suffered but the alternative of them getting into my home this winter is driving me to kill any that are around. I read another comment that mentioned that larger rats may not be killed by the trap and I will have to agree that the wound on the rat's neck did not look fatal. The trap was strong enough to keep it trapped by the neck until I was able to deal with it. If you're squeamish this is difficult as the rat screamed and that was unnerving to me.Update Sept 2024I caught another last night and again the trap 'jumped' off the fence. The rat was dead and it looked as if the trap broke its neck. This was a large rat. I had not set up the 2nd trap but I will now as it is starting to get cooler, home vegetable gardens are ending for the year and I am prepared for more to be present.

    I live in the suburbs and this year we have a terrible rodent problem. I was afraid to use traditional traps because I have two dogs and two cats. These have worked very well and have not been a problem with my pets. They are very effective, easy to set up, easy to empty and reuse. They seem durable as well the value was so good and the product so effective that I bought an additional set after using these. I now have them in multiple places around my shed and house.

    Easy set and clean, I've caught a lot of voles with these. Unlike other plastic traps, they last a while. Especially like the removable bait cup, so you dont have to touch the capture area. Also just squeeze the outer lever to dump the unlucky buggers.

    I was hoping to love this trap a lot more. In theory it is perfect. In practice it falls somewhat. The tunnel feature lets rodents in and this this design is more successful than many others. It is also easy to bait and set up. For mice and smaller rats it works perfectly, catching and killing as it's supposed to. Medium or larger rats it doesn't kill but rather suffocates slowly, with some medium size rats taking overnight before they expire and larger rats having to be put out of their misery by the user as they were still alive and struggling after a full night in the trap's jaws. For catching and ease of baiting alone this trap get is a full five stars. For killing small rodents as well. It loses a star on medium rats as it is too slow in ending them to be considered humane. Another star or two lost for large rats, which was the main reason for buying, as it's just not strong enough to kill them therefore tortures them needlessly leaving the job of dispatching them up to the user. It would have been five stars all the way if it had properly killed all rats as it's the killing after they've been caught that's the ugly business.

    It. Works well. Put it out the night I got and it did its job and caught the rat. Did not know how to take the rat out so I put it out side on a bench in the yard. Went back two hours later and could not find the trap. The rat was dead when I took it outside. So I don’t know what happen to the trap. I looked all over the yard and could not find it

    We are very farm ish, meaning we have 70ish chickens and their feed draws in rats regardless of our efforts to keep the feed capped at night and store the feed in rat prof containers.

    The greatest thing about these traps are they are easy to set! Baiting is fairly easy, however I sprinkle my bait (usually chicken scratch ) inside the trap, I do not remove the small bait plug and fill it, which is recommended. Most of the time it is a instant kill, however the smaller rats do not always die, that is terrifying to me! Just beware! Not an often occurrence, but it does happen. We have trapped some very large rats! So the bigger the rat is better in these traps from my experience. Regardless the size of rat, these are the most effective traps we have ever used, no poisons and humane for the most part.

    Another great feature of these traps, is the rat release! Pulling back the release of the trap, immediately allows the rat to fall out with out having to see the poor little creature. We empty the contents in a garbage bag and/or bury depending upon how close it is to trash day.

    We have tried a number snap traps without success, not to mention how scary and hard some of them are to set! Getting you hand stuck in a snap trap is one of my worse fears. This cannot happen in these traps unless you are trying to get your finger snapped.

    I would highly recommend these traps, I am planning to purchase more them. In a perfect world we could co-exist and not have to harm these little guys. Rats are very destructive and carry many harmful diseases, without controlling them my chickens would be at risk as well as your property.

    Last but not least. I trap at night only and I trap in areas where other pets cannot get close to the traps. These traps do require rat removal within hours after the catch or they will stink and attack other pets/animals to eat the dead rats or relocate your traps.

    I didn't want to put bait boxes out because I didn't want a poisoned rat dieing under my house or in my floor. So I thought I would give these traps a try. They seemed a bit expensive but they looked like a good design. Last night was the first night I placed them just outside the spot where it looked like the rodents enter under our house: two traps, two dead rats this morning. I would give them 10 stars if possible. If a person is concerned that a squirrel or other animal might be inadvertently caught, place the traps out only at night. Follow up; the second night, two traps, one dead rat. I closed up the hole where they were going in and out as I have in the past. But now that I have caught three rats the hole is no longer being dug out and used. I love these traps. I have been trying to get rid of these rodents for several years by various means. I am thrilled that these traps worked so well and that they are so easy to use and empty.
