Good poles that don't break the bank

Good poles that don't break the bank
I have arthritis, especially my ankles, so I can loose my balance quickly. After several years of building my strength up I'm finally ready to get back out but I needed poles that wouldn't break the bank. This set is perfect! Used them while walking/hiking the ancient lava beds of Eastern Washington. Handles and wrist straps are VERY comfortable, adjusting for height very easy, bag that holds all the various tips (and to store poles) super handy. I'm a big girl, these poles did not bend. The color is really nice, I have the red and hubby has the blue. We are VERY happy!

These are just perfect for what I wanted - a pair of lightweight hiking poles adjustable and a nice color. I wanted something bright a) for visibility to others in case of emergency and b) so I'm less likely to leave them somewhere inadvertently. (like after a picnic, hiking home, which I have done before;-) )

For those reviewers who couldn't figure out how to put them together, read the instructions - it's actually a very clever system - the upper section of pole has a locking mechanism which loack all sections tight.

I highly recommend these - they are a very good price for the quality.

I bought a different pair of hiking sticks that I really liked, but they were just a bit too large to put in a backpack, so I returned them and got these. As an older, heavy woman, I was a bit skeptical about how sturdy these would be. But, I was about to visit a friend in Colorado who likes to hike, and as I'm not always confident in my ability to walk on uneven ground, I decided to try these. Now, maybe it's like Dumbo being able to fly because of his belief in the feather, but these sticks proved to be very helpful. They gave me the steadiness I needed to walk in the "iffy" spots, and having something to hold onto made it much easier to walk in general. I'm so glad I purchased them! It did take looking at a video on You Tube to figure out how to put them together, as the print in the instructions is too small to read, but once I did that, it was very easy. I also like that these come with many tips as well as a carrying case. Definitely worth the purchase.

These poles suit my needs. I don't hike but have balance and steadiness issues. I use one when working outside or walking outside. The directions on assembly are very small attached to the handle. I finally found a you tube video that solved the problem. There is a section hidden in the handle that has to be pulled down to get the sections locked. I like that they are collapsible. I have a Cascade Mountain pole that is a bit sturdier and has a spring which I really like. I wish these poles had a spring. Otherwise , I'm happy with this purchase

These are impossible to assemble to a sturdy pole. There is a cable that connects top to bottom. On the first pole, that cable arrived disconnected from the top-grip (deep inside that piece), so no way to reconnect or tension the cable. I tried to get the 2nd pole assembled just to see if I should return or replace. After several minutes, I still could not get the pieces securely together...not something I want to fumble with when I'm ready to hit the trail.

Can't beat the price. And seems to be OK quality. But the print on the assembly instructions is so damn small, I literally had to get a magnifying glass to read them. And there are a few extra parts in here that I have no idea what they are or how to use them. See, the idea here guys, is that I'm so pleased with my purchase that I tell others and they buy too. What the hell good is it to leave a consumer in the dark ? Use your damn brain ! It's almost as though this wasn't their product and they just repackaged it for sale and spent the absolute minimum they needed to, just so they could say they included some instructions etc. Big hint guys. Those things count for a lot in my book. And I don't think I'm alone. But, you have my money now. And that's what really counts , right? I may post some other review after I've actually had a chance to use them. See , that's the buzz kill about these instructions. you're all excited to receive your new toy. And you want to unpack it and use it right away ! But then, you're wasting time looking for a magnifying glass just so you can read the damn instructions. Uuugh !

I'm using these for exercise over uneven terrain. These are ideal for my needs so far.
I don't think that I would use these for heavy, mountain terrain, but, they're perfect for fields, trails and low hills. I have to cross a lot of water and mucky mud, the extra basket tips were very handy for this.
The poles popped right together intuitively. Actually, I peeked at the instructions after I had taken them out for their first use to find that I had assembled them correctly.
I am 5'11" tall and the height adjustment left me some space to go longer if needed. handgrips are very comfortable for a nice hike. Nice trekking poles for the money.
