1. Please create a folder called "DCIM" to the root of the USB flash driver

2. Then create a folder called "100CANON" into "DCIM"

3. Copy the photos and videos into the “100CANON” folder.

4. Insert the USB flash driver to this file and adapter, after 3-7 seconds, iPhone/iPad will automatically pop-up the picture window.

    Expect no frills. You'll get none. It is delivered in a tiny zip lock bag. There are no features so nothing for you to screw up. Plug in your cord, plug it into your lightening enabled device and get to work.

    After trying, unsuccessfully, to transfer hundreds of photos from my iPhone to my Windows PC via direct USB connection, I tried a SANDisk device. The SANDisk device and s/w didn’t work for me either, so I bought this lightning to USB3 adapter. This simple little device works. It is not fast but it does work. I copied over 1200 photos and videos from my iPhone to a flash drive using this adapter. It took about an hour to complete but it worked reliably. Interestingly, the adapter got warm during the transfer. I dont think the heat was conducted directly from the connection to the iPhone… maybe it was from small electrical resistance in the adapter but unlikely. Not an important characteristic to me but FYI.

    This adapter works for what I need. I simply wanted to play movies from a thumb drive. It works for that but it gets extremely hot. It also feels very flimsy and cheap. I don't expect it to last long, but it does work. I also purchased another adapter which looks like the Apple USB adapter made by Leica Geosystems AG. That one seems better in quality.
