It is still a decent value, but you will need to pad the mount (or back laptop screen) to achieve a proper camera angle. My setup: I’m using it with a 2020 MacBook Air, with a hard shell case. It fits snug and stays in place. My iPhone has a MagSafe case as well.

I bought this and 2 other Continuity Camera mounts from Amazon. This one is by far the best.

The others I purchased are also “ring” holders. The plastic was much thinner, the magnets weaker, and the legs folded in so the mount is flat for storing/travel. These do not attach as securely and the ring holder element is unnecessary. They are much too thick to be on my phone all the time and the construction feels less solid all around. I needed to keep my screen tilted at a certain angle to keep the camera from tilting.

NOT the case with THIS mount from Capstone. This mount isn’t trying to do anything else like others on the market. It does one thing and is the best at it.
The “feet” and the base portion that contact the Mac are nicely padded. It would be nice to see the same for the part that rests on the top edge of the Mac as well, and I would probably add something if I didn’t have a case on my Mac. However that bit of plastic is very smooth and doesn’t seem likely to cause any scratches. The fit is snug and stays put no matter the screen angle.

The magnet is STRONG. Very confident my iPhone won’t fall off.
The plastic is thick and nothing about the mount feels flimsy. The legs don't fold flat, but I think that's a better design than the others since it keeps the fit snug. It's still compact enough for travel.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a Continuity Camera mount.

Bought this on a whim, as the "continuity camera" feature on Mac seemed cool...if also a bit of a novelty feature. However, this mount is much sleeker than the Belkin one, cheaper, and worked perfectly. I was also shocked at how good Apple's "center stage" feature is, where the camera 'follows and zooms to fit' you and others in the camera. Apple is dang good at this sort of software "wizardry" and it made me a believer in using my iphone for video calls with more than just me! 100% happy with this purchase.

Great if you don't have a computer case

2 reasons I give this product 2 stars:
1. Is useless for an iPhone 14 Pro Max + MacBook Pro 14❜:

My iPhone 14 Pro Max is too heavy for my MacBook Pro 14❜ and when I put this holder on it, it can't stand properly where I want it to stand. I even fear it can break the computer's screen. But since this can be Apple's issue, I gave 2 stars to the product instead of 1 star.

2. Won't fit with a case:

Unfortunately I cannot use this at all as I have a computer case and it doesn't fit with the stand.
I should have been told about that or there should be a way to stretch it to fit if your computer has a case.

It's a MacBook Pro 14 Special edition, and I won't remove the case because of this to keep it safe! I am sorry if I give this product a 2 stars only.

Perhaps, it would be great for a person with a smaller iPhone.
However, the magnet is powerful and can stand the iPhone 14 Pro Max, that's part of the reason I gave it 2 stars.

Great concept for those with excellent, high-quality phones who want to save some money on buying an additional camera (for their PC/laptop). Excellent quality, strong spring/resistance holding stand to the monitor, and generally universal in application to a myriad of monitor types.

If there were some opportunities to improve (and I'm nitpicking a little, but nothing's perfect) - if there were a way to more efficiently align the "clamp" and adjust the hinge more intuitively - it would truly be unassailable as THE alternative to webcam purchasing for streaming, teleconferencing, etc.
