I loved seeing Klaus and Caroline finally hook up--but it was sort of a let down at the same time, kind of anti-climactic. But since The Originals have their own show, I guess we couldn't expect much more at this point. Can I say though, sex up against a tree? Ouch. Even for vampires/hybrids, that's gotta be uncomfortable. LOL. Hoping for this pair to become a true couple by the end of the series. I've never been into Forwood. I don't feel any real chemistry there. But Klaroline is all about the chemistry, in my opinion.
I love Enzo. He and Damon were great onscreen friends and sometimes frenemies. It'll be interesting to see where his character goes next season. Especially now that Alaric is back too (and who doesn't love Alaric?!).
And what can I say about the season finale? It was really emotional--seeing Elena's tearful and tormented loss of Damon and his goodbye to her (Kleenex!), that really got me. And ditto with Grams and Bonnie, because I've always loved their relationship and how Grams is always there for Bonnie, even from the now gone Other Side. Then Bonnie and Damon joining hands at the end as we saw the white light...really nicely done. I do NOT believe they are dead though. Grams did something, she made that clear. And Damon can NOT be dead. A lot of characters can die and it sucks, but let's be honest: Damon is too important to the show to be dead dead. Whether you're a Delena fan or not, you have to admit that's true. I wouldn't want Stefan dead for the same reason--he's just too important. But how will they come back next season? That is the big question. Whatever Julie Plec and the writers have cooked up though, it's sure to be good. I can't wait for Season 6.
And P.S. am I the only one who does NOT like the idea of Caroline and Stefan together? I adore them as friends--Stefan needed a close friend, especially without Lexi there. Their friendship is fun to watch. But I just don't have the feels for them together as a couple. So I hope that's not where their storyline is going to go next season. It's obviously been hinted at in the Season 5 finale, and I can tolerate it if it does, but I just think they're better off as friends. Stefan needs friends!
The Season 6 premier is way too far away. It can't come soon enough for me.
Great characters-- They have really created some wonderful characters with more depth than you would expect for a TV show. They are interesting to watch and you find yourself rooting for them!
Great plot twists- The writers are excellent. Things can get over the top but never in a way that does not make sense for the world they have created. You are on the edge of your seat--especially considering that the writers are not afraid to kill off characters
Good acting- I think the acting is really fantastic. Everyone does a wonderful job, but I think the standout is the actor who plays Damon and also Klaus. Elena also does well switching between Katherine and Elena. Really excellent work.
Nice balance: I thought Twilight was a bit too lite considering the topics were vampires and werewolves etc. I like that Vampire Diaries pushes this envelope a bit and is more gritty. There is no cursing in the show which should please some people--although some of the situations that they find themselves in I might not blame them!
In terms of this season--it is my least favorite of them all--but still great! Season 3 was my personal favorite so far. If you are on the fence, but like this genre, you should really give it a try! I expected to be mildly entertained and now it is one of my favorite shows.
