This is one good book dealing with a huge and complicated field of science. As an ethnoarchaeologist, I find this one a good read in my own studies as well as for my own interest in other cultures. I would recommend it to anyone who is interesting in different cultures and the studies themselves. You don't have to be an archaeologist, anthropologist or such to read it. However, this is a type of book that must be updated now and then, as new studies are made, new ideas are presented and so on.

Ich kann nur vom Kauf dieses Buches abraten. Es steht seit ca. 10 Jahren bei mir im Schrank, nachdem ich nach ca 80 Seiten das Lesen aufgegeben hatte. Die Ausführungen sind langatmig und wenig hilfreich hinsichtlich eines breiten Verständnisses der Kulturanthropologie. Es scheint vielmehr die Mission des Autors zu sein, den Beobachtungen seine marxistische Perspektive überzuhelfen, als die Vielfalt menschlichen Daseins und Zusammenseins nüchtern darzustellen.
