Each chapter is written by a different professor/Lecturer. The first chapter was a bit confusing (straying away from the actual content to list names, using citations, and not really giving concise, straightforward definitions). Later chapters I found to be an easier read; that is, it won't make your eyes glaze over and thus give you a chance to absorb some information.
At times it does read like a CIA World factbook sheet. It's good for giving general definitions and summaries of the shifting political atmosphere in some countries, but it merely scratches the surface. It is very much an introductory book into how analysts and researchers try to surmise why some developing succeed while others do not.
