David Ben-Gurion was the brilliant, indispensable man, the founder of the State of Israel. Ben-Gurion said, "Zionism means the transfer of the Jews."

By way of archival research, Professor Masalha has uncovered what Ben-Gurion meant. Through a careful examination of original sources, Dr. Masalha has identified key documents in both Hebrew and Arabic, which show to all the world that Zionism is nothing more than a rationale for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Palestine.

According to zionist transfer ideology, everyone, whether Moslem or Christian must leave Israel. Everyone. No exceptions. Zionism means transfer. No compromise, no exceptions. Ben-Gurion's formula meant transfer of Zionists in and the transfer of non-Zionists out. Period.

Because a complete transfer has not yet been accomplished, the actual borders of Israel are not yet acknowledged by Israel itself. Even the formal definition of Israeli citizenship is yet unsettled.

After all, how can a "Jewish State" tolerate a status quo, in which 20% of the population of settled Israel is Arab? The provisional solution in Israel is to deny informal autonomy and formal equality to Palestinians.

Ben-Gurion's formula is of course a swindle, a pretext, a rationale for the ongoing agony conducted by Israel with US dollars, as Israel extends its Occupation and its colonies deeper and deeper into the land of abused Arabs and into the psyche of hoodwinked American Jews, many of whom enable their own enthrallment to racism, as if it were actually the Judaism of ancient days.

Professor Masalha has placed in his debt all of us who know in our bones and in our blood that the freedoms which arrive by way of self-determination and representative government, are not secure until oppressed people everywhere have their own full measure of these freedoms. Palestine must know it's freedoms in full, for our own freedoms to be secure. Clearly, our self-government is unfree as witnessed by the pandering of our US politicians, who line up to pay homage with our billions to the Golden Calf of Zionism.

Excellent wriiten, well documented based on Israeli archival material, this fine work gives a good overview that from the very start the zionist leadership was constant preoccupied with the large number of the native Gentiles living in Palestine, how to relocate them to another counrty in order to create a state with a vast Jewish majority. The local population should be transfered in order to make place for immigration and colonisation of Jewish people mainly from Europe and that state should start with the best (agricultural) areas in Palestine. In time their plans and actions became more detailed resulting finally in the expulsion of 750.000 Gentiles through the execution of plan Dalit. This event is called the Nakba by the Palestinians.

Nur Masalha is a Palestinian Israeli researcher, author, and professor. He has a number of books, but this book is the one which he created his niche in the research of 1948. He details rather extensively over 200 pages the idea of transfer of the indigenous Palestinian population from Palestine in the Zionist ideology. He quotes leading figures of Zionism including all spectrums of the ideology including Ruppin, Jabotinsky, and Ben Gurion. Masalha in conjunction with Norman Finkelstein were the first to expose the fallacies in Benny Morris' original work "The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem." I highly recommend this book and all of his books if you are interested in the subject.

Based on a wide base of sources mostly from Zionist authors, it shows conclusively that the displacement of the Arabic population from Palestine in 1947/48 was not at all a "fortuitous accident" or even voluntarily as it has been called by Zionist politicians, but that it was deliberately engineered, practically prepared for since 1937 and ideologically aspired for since the birth of Zionism.

This book was already published in 1992. It's good to see that it has been reprinted several times, this edition is of 2009. The author describes detailed how already at the end of the 19th Century Jewish leaders planned a transfer of the native Arab population in Palestine to get a "clean" Jewish state. It's embarrassing to read names like Israel Zangwill, Chaim Weizman, Arthur Ruppin, Vladimir Jabotinski and Menahem Ussishkin, all in favor to get rid of the Arabs. The idea was fueled by a thinking of superiority, hate and pure arrogance. It was left to David Ben-Gurion to push out ca. 750000 Arabs from their ancient land where they had lived for generations. Without any compensation, of course.
This book with its ample notations gives the reader an excellent explanation for today's explosive situation in the Jewish-Palestinian conflict and the worldwide rising anti-Semitism.
