My main complaint is that this book is too short!!! The author could have gone into much more detail. He is very kind to the Euro-Americans and their Imperialist attitudes about their believed "superiority" over the Asians.
This book lends an insight to the struggles of uniting warring factions without having to descend into subjugation by another country.

This book was actually written by the current Tokugawa descendant, who carries on the Samurai tradition into the modern world. His perspective on that unique period of Japanese history, when his ancestors ruled Japan, is unique and enlightening.

I was recommended this book as I am a docent at the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk Colony in Gold Hill, California. A settlement of the first Samuri to America. I'm sure it will give me lots on new information.
