This offprint of "International Migration" Vol 38(3), special issue 1/2000 focuses on trafficking, viewed from both regional and theoretical perspectives. Two chapters discuss trafficking with respect to Asia and to Europe, permitting comparisons and evaluations of the nature of trafficking in Asia and Europe (" A Perspective from Asia", Ronald Skeldon; "Trafficking and Human A European Perspective", John Salt). A third chapter concentrates specifically on illegal population movements in Poland, which is a source, transit and destination country of trafficked and smuggled migrants ("Illegality of International Population Movements in Poland", Marek Okolski). A fourth chapter addresses the connection between asylum policies and trafficking, a link which varies from country to country ("Asylum Policies, Trafficking and Vulnerability", Khalid Koser). Finally, this publication concludes with a call for a multidisciplinary approach to trafficking, outlining ways in which trafficking can best be addressed and through which disciplines ("People for The Need for a Multidisciplinary Approach Towards Human Trafficking", Kristof Van Impe).
