The work of Desi Arnaz Jr.

James McDonald
The list author says: "As a tv viewer, when did we first meet Desi Arnaz Jr (Desiderio Arnaz IV)? Well, we knew his parents Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz on "I Love Lucy". When the baby was born in "Lucy Goes to the Hospital" it was not Desi Jr. The baby was played by James John Ganzer, however Desi Jr was born that very day, January 19, 1953. In the episode, Lucy and Bob Hope, Keith Thibodeaux (Richard Keith) began to play "Little Ricky". It wasn't until the last 30-minute episode of "I Love Lucy" in 1957 that Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. appeared on the show as extras in "Ricardos Dedicate a Statue". "I Love Lucy" would continue on the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" (1957-60) with 13 one-hour specials. Desi Jr. would make a few appearances in "The Lucy Show" (1962-68) and he appeared in his first motion picture at the age of 13 in Murderer's Row (1966) with his singing group, Dino, Desi and Billy. He made appearances in The Mothers-in-Law tv series in 1967 & 1968. Finally, his sister, Lucie, and himself became regulars in their mother's new tv series, Here's Lucy (1968-74). Lucie was 17, Desi was 15. He appeared in a Brady Bunch episode as "himself" in 1970 and filmed a movie, Red Sky at Morning (1971). During Season 3, Desi begged his mom to be let out of the series. He wanted to do other things. After all, he was 18 now. She agreed. This lead to more dramatic roles in an episode of Night Gallery, Mod Squad, Love American Style and tv-movies. Finally a starring lead role in, Marco (1973) and Billy Two Hats (1974). His career took off doing more episodic television, tv-movies and motion pictures from 1975-1983. Lucie and Desi lost their father Desi Arnaz on December 2, 1986. Their mother, Lucille Ball, passed away unexpectedly April 26, 1989. Desi Arnaz Jr. with his wife owns The Boulder Theatre in Boulder City, Nevada. Home of the Boulder City Ballet Company. Desi Jr. was touring with his new singing group, Dino, Desi and Billy. He now tours with his sister, Lucie Arnaz, in a theatre show."
