The list author says: "In case you don't have the time or simply can't be bothered to invest the 30 some hours into a Resident Evil video game but are endlessly intrigued by its plot, then look no further.
The Resident Evil novels by Stephani D. Perry are adaptations of most of the main series, with a couple of original stories. The plots are very similar to the games, with only a few changes here and there to try and make sense of certain points. Like for example Leon and Claire can't both find the same artifact, therefore the story changes to fit this scenario.
The series includes Resident Evil: Zero Hour (a novelization of Resident Evil 0) Resident Evil: The Umbrella Conspiracy (a novelization of Resident Evil) Resident Evil: Caliban Cove (an original story) Resident Evil: City of the Dead (a novelization of Resident Evil 2 and my personal favorite) Resident Evil: Underworld (another original story) Resident Evil: Nemesis (a novelization of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis) Resident Evil: Code Veronica (a novelization of Resident Evil: Code Veronica)
The series does have it's plot holes, which is addressed by the author at the beginning of each book, explaining that when writing them, she researched them one story at a time so she wouldn't get lost in a sea of details. Nevertheless, they're not very noticeable unless someone were to go through and point each one out for you and thus, the stories don't suffer at all in any way.
If you're a Resident Evil fan, I would highly recommend this series. Even if you're not a fan of the games or have never heard of them, give these books a try. I promise you won't be disappointed. :)"
