The list author says: "I spent LOTS of time looking at baby 'stuff' while I was pregnant. I read LOTS of reviews and books. What you see below is a list of things that are my favorite and/or hard to find recommendations on. (Wash cloths aren't on many people's Listmania lists so I bought several kinds and kept the best.)
Amazon only lets you put 40 things on a list. There are more things to recommend, but this is all that fits.
**** NOTE: This list isn't in any order. It's hard to reorder, so I left it as I entered it."
"Love this book! The five 'S's really are magic. I read the book but my husband just watched the DVD, which gives enough detail to understand the method. So: get either the book or the DVD, but make sure to pay attention!"
"We would not have survived without this! The vibrations calm my son, always, and its soft and comfortable. It's easy to move this chair, even with him in it, from one room to the other, so we can keep an eye on him while he's sleeping."
"We LOVE these bottles. I'm so glad we chose them! I chose these after reading the advice about bottle-feeding on the Baby Bargains website. (The free part.) Worth reading, by the way. It's easy to wash these and to mix the formula."
"The drying rack that looks like grass is really popular and looks cute-- BUT this is so much better! It's amazing how it holds so much and really dries things quickly. It's taller than it is wide, so it takes up less space on our counter."
"This sterilizes the bottles really quickly. It's plain-looking so doesn't make the counter look bad. It also fits a lot, if you use both the top part and the bottom part. (It's three-in-one because you could use only the top, only the bottom, or both together.) I sometimes just use the top part when I'm sterilizing soothers."
"These is really, really easy to use. It's the one recommended by Consumer Reports for safety and because it's easy to install and to put in/take out the seat. We have the base part in both cars (you can by an additional base separately) and snapping it in and taking it out is quick and uncomplicated."
"I LOVE Kicky Pants! The fabric is ridiculously soft. (It's made of bamboo, apparently- but I just like it because it feels good.) The prints are also really cute. We have a lot of Carter's clothing that is great, but Kicky Pants is by far my favorite."
"Get a bunch of these. They allow my son to kick around and wave his arms without getting cold. (A onesie isn't enough with the AC on.) Cotton ones aren't too hot when you add a swaddling blanket, too. I have some cute Carter's ones, but I also love ones from Kicky Pants and from Old Navy."
"I bought these for the first time because there was a great sale, thus they were cheaper. They are GREAT, though, and now we use them all the time and have bought them at full price. We don't end up bathing the baby as much as we probably should (2x per week), but this is a nice way to clean his face and hair and under his chin, which is really all you need when they are little."
"We LOVE this. It's helpful when you go out, but it's been really helpful in the house, too. Our son loves to be walked around but also likes to have the freedom to kick his legs around-this is perfect. There are different versions of these- the 'Air' one is mesh. If you are going to be in warm weather I would definitely get it- it's much cooler. I would describe this as a must-have."
"We love The Happiest Baby and swaddling is central to the method. These are my favorite swaddling blankets. The muslin is particularly good for hot weather. Four is plenty. NOTE - You should buy the more expensive ones-- i.e. the four-pack that is $50, not $35. The $50 ones are bigger and made of softer material."
"This is seriously a life-saver. The heartbeat-like sounds are recommended in Happiest Baby and it really works. This one stays on all night (though I think you can set it to go off). It is reasonable with batteries, too, and its light and easy to move room-to-room. You don't need the fancier one; it just is heavier to carry. You also won't need this for more than 3 or so months, so spend less."
"This truly is a miracle. I received it as a gift and didn't know how to use it. When I finally watched the YouTube video about it, it changed my life. We had other swaddling-type 'devices'- but ones with velcro are annoying and our son got out of them. This is baby straitjacket and it really makes babies feel safe. (You need this and a few straight blankets and your swaddling needs are met."
