The list author says: "I found two sites that contain lists of webcams that can be used with Mac computers. In fact, if you want to check out these sites, they link the cams right back here to Amazon. www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com and www.uvccompatiblewebcams.com
The cams I have listed here are only ones that appear on BOTH sites. There are a few others that only appear on one site or the other. I figure if they appear on both, there's a better chance that they will definitely work.
Basically what you're looking for to find a cam that will work with a Mac computer (it's best if you have OS X 10.4.11 & up) is UVC (USB Video Class) or certified for Windows Vista as it will be driverless (plug & play).
Keep in mind most cam's features such as Auto-Focus or zooming will be software features that will only work in Windows. However there is software by Ecamm called iGlasses (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/index.html) that is supposed to work with UVC webcams (or any webcam using the maccam driver found at http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/index.html) that will allow you to adjust the picture & save your own custom presets as well as pan & zoom.
I have not tested any of these cams or the iGlasses software, I only want to share this info so it may be easier for someone else who is looking for a Mac compatible webcam to find what they need."
"This one is the absolute best according to both sites. The advertised features such as auto-focus & RightLight 2 technology is all in the hardware so those features will actually work with a Mac."
"Listed on both sites as the best Value Priced cam. Color balance is said to be off, especially in low light. But for (at this time) less than $30, it's supposed to be pretty good."
"Listed on both sites, although www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com links to Quickcam Ultra Vision White instead. I think they are the same cam, just listed differently."
