The list author says: "I've been battling Rosacea for 20+ years. Most of us don't get diagnosed with Rosacea until long after we've tried so many different treatments we feel like a lab rat. Even so-called Rosacea medicines prescribed by doctors don't always work. I have Acne Rosacea and I have dry skin. The dry skin makes it difficult to treat the acne without aggravating the dryness and inflammation. Therapies I've tried. Benzoyl Peroxide (ouch) Salicylic Acid (still ouch) Antibiotics (worked for awhile) Hydrocortison cream (my doctor was crazy) Accutane (you have to be desperate, really desperate) Metrogel (worked for awhile then made it worse) Rosanil presciption cleanser (worked pretty good but harsh on dry skin) I'm listing some of the products I've found I can tolerate as I find them. As you'all know. It's a challenge. 12-24-2010 Update: Since I started my list I have discovered some new prescription products that really work. It's worth going to a dermatologist again. If you don't have one, do a web search for dermatologists who specialize in Rosacea or list it as a specific condition they treat."
"I'd seen this recommended for folks with Rosacea but normally anything like this makes it worse. This actually doesn't and it works like a dream. You just have to make sure to use the Sensitive or Delicate brushes and not to "overwash". Start with once every other day and work up to daily."
"This is my favorite cleanser. I can't believe how incredibly tolerant my skin is to this. It is a tissue off cleanser that leaves your skin soft. Fragrance-free, colorant-free, paraben-free, Soap-free, and oil-free. Life & Style 2010 Beauty Award"
"Ultra gentle no rinse formula. Only 6 ingredients. Sterile E.T.S. manufacturing process and D.E.F.I. (Device for Exclusive Formula Integrity). Fragrance-free, preservative-free, colorant-free, surfactant-free, alcohol-free, emulsifier-free and 100% sterile, 100% pure, 100% safe. For those times when your skin just hurts or you've been using prescription products or procedures."
"Used since 1743 in the Hydrotherapy Center to treat serious dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema. I use as a toner and a "spritzer" when my skin feels itchy or overly hot. In summer I put in fridge as it feels even better cold."
"This has a compound called pyrithione zinc which has been recommended off label for Rosacea. This has been floating around by word of mouth, blogs and websites for awhile. This is the first product I've seen specifically formulated for facial skin that includes it. I was surprised to have an immediate reduction in redness, oosing and itching. Wow."
"I had such success with the Dermadoctor Cleanser and Sulfur mask I decided to try it. All I can say is "WOW". The other reviewers who have given this 5 out of 5 are not exaggerating. This actually works. It's actually helped my skin heal. It's helped reduce the inflammation and dryness. It actually helped the acne. Just Wow."
"Sunshine can make Rosacea worse for many of us. And finding a sunscreen that doesn't make my skin worse has been a challenge. This one works. It uses only Titanium and Zinc. No chemicals. Doesn't make your skin white. Zinc can actually help improve Rosacea. Used it in Florida. No problems. Came back with great looking skin."
"Sulfur is one of the few compounds I've found that actually helps alleviate and treat Rosacea. This formula also contains phytosphingosine which helps calm and soothe. It doesn't seem to dry out my dry skin even more. And it's not as stinky as most sulfur masks. You'all know what I mean on that if you've tried sulfur."
"I've been using this once a week followed by the Avene Tolerance Extreme Soothing Cream. Lactic Acid is the most gentle of the alpha hydroxy acids. While it gets rid of the dead and damaged skin it does not make you "peel". It helps repair the underlying layers of skin and has anti-bacterial properties. It is also a natural humectrant so your skin doesn't dry out."
"This is the first sulfur mask I tried. Worked well but was a little too drying for my already dry skin. Had to be be cautious on how often I used it. I bet it would be ideal for oily or combination skin."
"Original Kinerase product that I discovered at a doctor's office when that was the only place you could get it. Kinerase Cream contains Kinetin(N6-furfuryladenine). Helps improve skin texture, tone and blotchiness and reduces fine lines. Works as well as Retinol but without the redness and irritation. No, really."
"These products contain AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid). Removes dead layers of skin and reveals healthier skin underneath. Helped get rid of scarring and dark spots from breakouts. I can tolerate AHA's whereas I can't tolerate Beta Hydroxys. I tried other brands of AHA products and found this one to be the least irritating. It does increase sun sensitivity."
"This has all the Omega's: 3, 6 and 9. Essential for healthy skin. This actually does help. I like this one over Borage, Flaxseed and Evening Primrose as it gives me all the Omegas rather than one or two."
"Borage Oil has one of the highest concentrations of GLA: Gamma Linolenic Acid (Omega 6) and Linolenic Acid (Omega 6). Essential fatty acid. Helps to reduce dryness in the skin and keep it healthy. Reduces itching and inflammation. Helpful in the treatment of Eczema and Psoriasis."
"High concentration of Omega 3 fatty acid ( Alpha-Linolenic)and Omega 6. Helps heal scars and abrasions. Is an anti-inflammatory. Helps with skin disorders such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. Helps prevent clogging of pores and thins sebum."
