The list author says: "The whole idea of primitive camping is to be able to carry everything you need in a backpack, and cause as little disturbance to the environment as possible. Everything you take in you bring out with you. This is done by hunting for your own food, finding your own water, and essentially roughing it. You can go from the extreme of hiking out to your campsite, or just setting up by the lake for a one night getaway. It all depends on how far from civilization you want to be. Don't be afraid to substitute some of these items that you think better suite your preferences. This is just a list I started to give you the minimal basics for primitive (or tent) camping. Have fun and enjoy!"
"Another great tool: 550 cord has so many uses, from holding your gear together to clothes lines to a tourniquette in emergencies. Almost as important as a knife. Never leave home without it."
