Corn snake supplies and buyer's guide!

LADrew
The list author says: "Corn snakes are the best first snake for anybody wanting to own a reptile. When they are handled regularly they become quite docile which is great for children and adults alike that want a safe to handle snake. They come in many different colors and patterns, so there is sure to be a color morph that catches your eyes. They are also pretty easy to breed if you always wanted to try doing that. They don't get that big, 4 feet is the usual, although they could get up to 6 feet max. They also require a relatively simple setup. There adult enclosure is a 20 gallon long aquarium or same sized plastic tub, which is relatively cheap compared to larger enclosures. The enclosure lid should be fastened tightly by either clips or belts. There should be a heat source that allows them to achieve their optimal body temperature [82 degrees farenheit at the hot end], as well as two hide spots[one at the hot end, the other at the cool end] and a water bowl that the snake can enter its entire body into. The substrate can include alot of medium from newspaper to ground coconut bedding. Other supplies can include thermometers, snake hooks, snake probes, incubators for eggs, shedding aides, branches, vitamin supplements, and a smaller enclosure for travel or quarantine. I suggest Kathy Love's book for further reading."
