I bought this Creature from the black Lagoon Legacy collection specifically for Revenge of the Creature in 3D. There are various reports that this movie will not play properly in the 3D version. It will display a side by side version of the picture (two versions of the picture split down the middle). I too have this split screen problem. I have already returned my copy as defective, but I doubt that a replacement will correct the problem. The disc is probably not encoded properly and Universal will have to press new discs to correct the problem. The other titles in this collection play properly, but as stated in other reviews "Revenge of the Creature" 2D presentation is also flawed by low resolution and look about as good as a VHS tape. Hold off on buying this release until Universal fixes these problem by issuing free replacement discs.
Universal has just announced a corrected disc replacement program for the "Revenge of the Creature" and "The Creature Walks Among Us" titles in this and the Complete Universal Monster Blu Ray Collection. The replacement disc will contain a properly authored version of "Revenge of the Creature" in correctly encoded full HD 3D and a full HD version of "The Creature Walks Among Us"

Kudos to Universal for promptly addressing this defective title issue. I will update my one star rating after I receive my replacement disc.
Growing up, REVENGE OF THE CREATURE was one of my favorite movies from the late night Creature Feature show - hey, what kid on a Florida vacation wouldn’t wish a monster would run amok interrupting the boring dolphin show their parents dragged them to? Universal, fresh off their failed DARK UNIVERSE monster reboot, once again disappoints their fan base. The picture quality of this film, played on an Oppo Blu-ray player, is soft, fuzzy and equal to a good VHS tape - and yes, I am experiencing the same 3D issues as stated in other reviews. If you are only buying this set for the 2nd film, I would advise you to skip it.
UPDATE: From Digital Bits website: “It also means that the second film included on that disc in 2D, The Creature Walks Among Us (1956), isn’t full 1080p either. Both are 720. This appears to have been done as a deliberate choice by the studio to reduce replication costs, but it’s a HUGE mistake, is completely unacceptable, and seriously compromises the presentation of both films.”
So a “4K” scan with 720 dpi on both sequels spells RIPOFF!
STATEMENT RE: UNIVERSAL PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT’S REVENGE OF THE CREATURE 3D BLU-RAY REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
September 5, 2018
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) has identified a manufacturing issue which may affect the presentation of the 3D Blu-ray offering of the film Revenge of the Creature, released on August 28 , 2018 as part of the Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection and the Creature From the Black Lagoon Complete Legacy Collection. The issue is isolated to this particular film and does not affect any other discs in the collections. UPHE’s goal is to always deliver the best possible product to its consumers. To that end, a replacement program is being established to ensure that those who have purchased either collection have the opportunity to receive a corrected Blu-ray disc featuring the 3D version of Revenge of the Creature and 2D version of The Creature Walks Among Us, should they encounter the issue. To receive an updated disc, please email USHEConsumerRelations@visionmediamgmt.com.
3rd Update: Many, many people on various horror message boards are complaining that their disc replacement request emails have not been answered. Some of them have repeatedly emailed Universal since 5 days ago. This doesn’t look good. If the company had honest intentions of replacing the defective disc, why are they still offering the defective Blu-ray set on Amazon and not issuing a product recall? I have lost little faith I had in their dubious business practices and most likely will return this set back for a refund.
Well done Universal. You've managed to piss off the vast majority of people who bought this bait and switch cash grab. We all know good and well that the team at 3D film Archive did not give you restored side by sides as a finished product. They sent you a digitally restored 3D blu ray master and instead of giving us that, you released a piece of garbage in side by side format. SIDE BY SIDE FORMAT?!?!?!?! Who in the hell ever did that to begin with and ever will again? What were you thinking? You just wanted all of us to pay another $30 dollars because you couldn't be bothered to come off an additional .50 cents for a blank 3D blu ray. I'm sending it back as defective. You have cleverly managed to side step false advertising but you certainly fooled us fans. No. You can't have my money. Release Revenge of the Creature in the format 3D Film Archive provided.
Jerks. I cancelled my Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom pre order too.
The 3D for Revenge of the Creature isn't working on the new Legacy Collection, and the picture quality for the 2D presentation isn't on par with the other movies. I'm seeing many complaints online, so I know it's not just my setup. Very disappointing!
Note: I see another reviewer was successful in using a side-by-side setting. I also saw someone online had some success with a 3D button on his remote. I don't have a 3D button on my remote, and my settings for 3D are frozen with the disc in. I can set it to side-by-side when the disc is out, but once it goes in, it reverts to normal and won't allow changes.
After all the painstaking work 3D film Archive did to produce a 4K 3D master of "Revenge of the Creature", Universal chose to save a few pennies to avoid a third disk by using the single stream side-by-side 3D method, effectively cutting the resolution in half! It's probably safe to assume that other fans like myself would have been happy to pay that extra pittance toward Universal's corporate welfare for a third disk with the standard dual-stream 3D. Now, I think they should compensate us with a third properly formatted disk free of charge! I would like to give this an even lower rating except for the fact that so much good work went into the original restorations, which need to be recognized!
