A nice idea abysmally executed

If you find you've been sharing dreams with a romantic other whom you find fantastically attractive for your whole life, and then you still follow through on getting engaged to someone you're not all that into anyway, for more or less whatever reason, you're just an idiot. There's no way to find such a character sympathetic. It's just not plausible that anyone wouldn't find this singular connection entirely compelling - especially given the dull life the protagonist sleepwalks his way through. Consequently, the primary tension within the film holds no actual tension. Plus the dialogue and acting are wooden.

I believe some of the reviewers missed the point of this very good movie.

First off the movie contains flavorings of IFC and Twilight Zone storylines. Don't let that scare you away. Just expect that this is not a normal romance story. One has to look at this through Ben's mind. To enjoy this movie one has to understand that Ben is obsessed with an idea that does not fit the reality of his friends and others he meets along the way. How each person reacts to Ben's behavior is entertaining on the surface. His normal thinking close friends stand by him and provide an interesting contrast to how Ben thinks as he works his way through his life at the time. Enjoy the movie and keep in the back of your mind what I see as an underlying theme of inclusiveness and acceptance of those different than us.

I loved the great imaginative storytelling but the ending was abruptly weak.

The movie was well done overall. The characters were all built up and established nicely for just about everyone except for the dude he almost hit with his bicycle. There was no explaining that guy at all. And, while the movie was engaging in its creativity, I was thinking the ending was going to be a ton more profound and psychologically explained. I kept trying to guess the ending and thought it going to be something more legit like maybe Ben was in a car accident and was fighting his way out of a coma and back to the real world. Nope... Haha... If the ending were better, I would have given it 5 stars. But since the ending - while nice - was so weak and abrupt, I had to knock take something away.

One of my favorites - but one downside to be warned about

"In My Dreams" on steroids. Meg is a darling in this. The leading man could have been cast better for presence, but his acting worked. The story line was captivating. Dream scene soundtrack enhances the mood. The emotions and passions elicited by their circumstances were heartfelt and convincing. That was mostly Meg, but he brought the male lead along well enough too. If you have ever had similar feelings, even though these are in fantasy, you will better get this movie. I bought it. I watch it fairly often.

Missed 5 stars because of the 4-letter words sprinkled in. Not from the lead characters, not frequent, not F-bomb severe, but unnecessary, detrimental and not for the whole family. The movie would have been improved without them.

I gave it two stars for a reason

Great movie idea and storyline. I would have given this 5 stars if the actors were better, especially the main character. The writing was also subpar. But the whole idea of the movie was great. It could have been so much better. I loved the actress who played Julia and her lines were fine. But the whole movie felt cheaply made and not enough effort put into it. Too bad because it could have been great. Invest in a good actor for the lead next time and someone who can write. Cute movie if you overlook the above-mentioned.

Loved it, watched it many times when I've been a little down. It's funny how some people can see this as a waist because he had a good job and a nice girl. But, happiness is not about comfort its about risk, adventure, taking responsibilities of one own life. I this this is a fantastic tool, for one too look into one's own life and figure out, is your comfort-zone holding your life back?

Loved this movie!

Loved this movie! A terrific Indy artistic look at love and relationships that is worth seeing. Great movie! The movie asks you to look at several aspects of love including how people settle instead of chasing true love and the movie explores the power of dreams in our reality. This is not a science fiction film but rather a creative look at how people find their mates.

The actors did a great job and were believable tho the story ... not so much. I often had trouble determining if the actor was asleep or awake and how did that connect them?
So for major parts of the story I wasn't always paying attention. Has anyone ever told you their dream before and it goes on forever? I felt like that about some of this movie.
