A light romantic comedy. Perfect for date night!

Plot summary (spoiler alert!): This story centers around a busy New York restaurant and the people who work there: the gay owner, the mexican cook, the pretty waitress (love interest), and our hero Herman, a "little person" - brother of the new owner and struggling actor. Our hero is struggling, not just with getting roles that don't typecast him as a leprechaun, dwarf, or elf, but with people who treat him differently in everyday life. He fixates on getting a leading man role, a role outside of the "little person" typecast, specifically that of the Tin Man in Martin Scorsese's remake of the Wizard of Oz. ("After all, why couldn't the Tin Man be a little person? He's just a guy looking for a heart!" Herman reasons.)

My thoughts: The characters in this movie were really relate-able. Great writing, good casting. Even the smaller roles, like the wine snob and the terrible agent, were well done. I found Herman to be a sympathetic and dynamic character. The way his friends rally around Herman to support him is so heartwarming. Definitely a few good laughs and a lot of chuckles. Highly enjoyable.

A Surprising Gem

Brilliantly acted, equal parts drama and comedy, with very believable characters and a flat refusal to follow the standard Hollywood formats. This production could so easily have fallen victim to over-the-top acting or "feel good" standardized clichés, but instead I feel like I know these people and just spent some time hanging out with them. I enjoyed the movie from beginning to end, then restarted it.

Excellent Movie

I would call this a dramady and thoroughly enjoyed it. Aaron Beelner, the lead who plays the tin man, is superb in projecting what little people face in a world of average height people. A drama because of some touching scenes and a comedy because of the many laugh producing lines between the actors. The fantastic cast supports itself well with great interaction. I would have liked the relationship of the tin man and Miller (Aaron Beelner and Kay Cannon) to have developed more romantically. I definitely would recommend this movie.

Well done on a very sensitive subject. Worth watching. Production quality is not the strongest. Overall, it is a small (no pun intended) gem.
