Plot summary (spoiler alert!): This story centers around a busy New York restaurant and the people who work there: the gay owner, the mexican cook, the pretty waitress (love interest), and our hero Herman, a "little person" - brother of the new owner and struggling actor. Our hero is struggling, not just with getting roles that don't typecast him as a leprechaun, dwarf, or elf, but with people who treat him differently in everyday life. He fixates on getting a leading man role, a role outside of the "little person" typecast, specifically that of the Tin Man in Martin Scorsese's remake of the Wizard of Oz. ("After all, why couldn't the Tin Man be a little person? He's just a guy looking for a heart!" Herman reasons.)
My thoughts: The characters in this movie were really relate-able. Great writing, good casting. Even the smaller roles, like the wine snob and the terrible agent, were well done. I found Herman to be a sympathetic and dynamic character. The way his friends rally around Herman to support him is so heartwarming. Definitely a few good laughs and a lot of chuckles. Highly enjoyable.
