One of the best shows ever made - easily the best anime ever, more then 15 years later little comes close.
There is a lot of other good intelligent adult anime with great questions about life and the future, but nothing has style and fun anywhere near this show.

Not all anime is "great", but Cowboy Bebop certainly is. In the category of "seinin" (adults up to their thirties) anime, Cowboy Bebop is the pinnacle.

Cowboy Bebop takes place in the distant future, where humans have colonized much of our galaxy. In this 'wild west' new era, some criminals are difficult for law enforcement to capture. Hense, bounty hunters are often employed to catch the worst and most dangerous of fugitives. The main characters of Cowboy Bebop are the crew of the ship "Bebop", who bounce around the galaxy in search of their latest paycheck.

Plenty of action, comedy, and even thought-provoking content are calling cards of Cowboy Bebop. From its stories to its art style to even its stellar soundtrack (scored by Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts), even if you're not a fan of anime, Cowboy Bebop is sure to leave an impression.

This is the show is the one that started it all, even if you don't like anime you will like this show. Every episode is like a mini movie, and to this day many Anime shows take off of Cowboy Bebop. Still don't believe me? YouTube Cowboy Bebop review and its nothing but amazing reviews. Plus the detail and graphics were all made by hand which is not done anymore by any anime. This is truly an amazing show.

Having seen a lot of different anime in my day, I admit that in my youth i couldn't really get into Bebop. It's pretty mature, doesn't have any of the anime tropes in it, and back then, I didn't watch it in English, so I didn't quite get the stories (I'm bad at reading story heavy subtitles). But having grown up, and watching it (in English) as an adult I can fully understand and appreciate this masterpiece- and it seriously just kills me. It really doesn't feel like an anime- it's more like cinema. Each episode is a compelling story, beautifully animated with great action and drama, the music is brilliantly scored and adds so much depth to the atmosphere and mood, and as you learn more about the main characters, the melancholic undertones, the underlying loneliness that gets smoothed over and blanketed with badassery, effortless coolness, and poetic emotions that aren't ever seen on the surface- UGH IT JUST KILLS ME. I'M ACTUALLY CRYING.

It is seriously so fxxxxxg good, and cool, and sad, and beautiful.
There are few things in the world that I love more than this series.

Word to the wise- please watch the English dub- as it is heavily Americana influenced, it is perfectly done, and even lauded by the creator that the dub is superior to the Japanese version.

There's good anime, and then there's Cowboy Bebop. <3

Ahh, Bebop. This show isn't perfect and arguably shouldn't get 5 stars for that reason but it's still one of my main go-to shows when I'm recommending something anime to someone who thinks they don't like anime. (Samurai Champloo is another good one.) It's a solid show with what I'd say is a sort of spaghetti western flavor to it. And I know purists will go for the original Japanese with English subtitles but another reason this anime is solid is that they had quality English voice acting so I find the dub to be quite good (ditto for Samurai Champloo). And being animated, you'd never know it was a dub if I didn't just now tell you.

Content-wise, I'd call it a "slightly sillier Firefly". Bounty hunters operating on the fringes of the law, hunting down bounties. The content is still mostly serious (mostly) but there's a slightly sillier spin to the characters that keeps the show from ever getting too heavy.

All in all, this show is worth a shot for anyone who likes sci-fi (especially with a sort of "old west" flavor to it) and I recommend it.

Seriously good. Don't consider it anime, don't consider it a cartoon, consider it cinema. This is without a doubt one of the greatest shows ever made. Its fun, its exciting and its considered one of the most influential shows ever made. Its up there with The Wire and Breaking Bad. If you don't like it I'm sorry but you will be one of the few. Enjoy, I'm sure if your looking at this as a possibility you won't be disappointed.

Very much enjoyed the show years ago when it was on Adult Swim on Saturday nights, now I am able to watch the show again. The show is more art in the sense of the jazz music accompanying the show, appropriately timed with the events and mood of the show. This aspect gives the show a more immersed feel and adds emotion to the scenes. Characters are developed throughout the series with flashbacks which reveals how these characters got to this point and how and why they interact with each other as such. This is a very good series with a good story, though it starts off randomly the first few episodes, they are soon tied together with each characters storyline intertwining to create a very involved and captivating story.
