To overcome the hypocrisy, we need to understand first...

People in the doc keep protesting that government should not regulate sugar in any way. With billion$$$ of your tax dollar$$$ in subsidies rewarded to corporations every year, governments already are regulating FOR sugar corps. Plus, the government finally regulated against tobacco, asbestos, lead, heroin, cocaine, owning and hanging black people. Were those not good moves in the right direction? Follow the money to find the root of the corruption.

HIGHLY recommend it.

I recommend both the documentary & the book. If you want to know how to eat well, how to ditch diets, how to truly eat to live: look at this video & then snag the book. Pollan doesn't spout a bunch of hippy, granola nonsense (as my dad would have said). Pollan gives commen sense tips our grandmothers would have told us, and probably did. It boild down to the motto: Eat food, not too much, mostly plants. He doesn't call for you to raise your own chickens or eliminate meat, but he does want you to be aware of what is in your food, what you are eating, and how adversely it affects your health. Using this as a guide, hubby & I both lost more weight than we ever did on diets, and overall our health improved. HIGHLY recommend it.

Not the same as the book - do both!

This book had been on my shelf for quite awhile and I had not read it thinking it was more of the same re: The Omnivore's Dilemma. Finally picked it up and read it to the exclusion of all else and enjoyed it very much. Heard about the movie, again thought it was just more the same as the book but watched it at the urging of a friend. The book and the movie are not the same thing! Same premise, of course, but things are covered differently and in different depth. I absolutely enjoyed the movie on its' own and as a compliment to the book. I'm so glad I watched the movie AND read the book. Both were very well done.

Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants. - Michael Pollen
This film looks at primitive diets and highlights the insanity of processed foods that fatten, sicken, and frustrate us. Micahel Pollen's food rules are so easy and helpful to remind us how to eat well as humans and not be duped by marketing schemes.

Open your eyes to the world of good food.

Awesome presentation. Recommended by the dietician who teaches healthy diet choices classes through my healthcare provider. Raised my consciousness when in the grocery store or a restaurant. There is a massive effort to push junk as good for you, but, in the end, you are much better armed by experiencing this documentary. Eating healthy and well can be compatible. It's working for me!

I first read the book several years ago--I recently re-read it for the second time--and more or less figured the movie would be the illustrated version. Not at all. Quite a bit of new material is presented. My wife and I have been convinced for quite a while and we shop the outside borders of the grocery store in addition to buying quite a bit from our local farmers' markets as well as grow some of our own food. I intend to recommend the movie to family and friends.
