This movie is epic. It is a harrowingly beautiful portrayal of a female Marine veteran struggling with trauma (most likely PTSD and MST). What makes this movie so broadly accessible and moving on an emotional level is its purposeful omission of details about the events that actually caused her trauma. What the viewer is left with is a portrayal of humanity's struggle to wade through the pain of dealing with the aftermath of trauma. In other words, intentionally leaving out a visual description of her traumatic events allows the viewer to use their imagination and relate her trauma to trauma that they have personally experienced. The acting is superb, the visual symbolism throughout the movie is intricate, and perhaps most importantly, the story of females veterans is finally getting the advocacy it deserves. Do not miss this movie.
