PTSD Issue
Verified purchase
I read the film's description and decided to take a chance on it for 99 cents with Amazon Prime. Focused on the return home of a female marine and her struggles with PTSD it was a depressing topic from start to finish.

Overall, I'd probably wouldn't recommend this film. For myself, I wished I'd have skipped it. There's a complete lack of any background given and no clues as to her previous relationship with her husband. You just feel that you've somehow missed half of the story so it's hard to connect with where the story actually begins. While Kate Nowlin gave a great performance as Sarge, the story felt choppy and incomplete. Plus the ending was completely unsatisfying.

Powerful, extremely well shot and beautifully acted.

Watch this film. It's important, difficult, beautiful to look at and extremely compelling. Minor stumble with the ending but didn't impede how impressive this film is.

I feel this is one of the best films since The Deer Hunter about PTSD/Depression

As a mental health therapist/college professor, I feel this is one of the best films since The Deer Hunter about PTSD/Depression. It is an accurate portrayal of the horrors of this disease and the hypervigilance and paranoia that often accompanies it. The Northern Minnesota setting is wonderful as is the Mason Jennings music. Great job!

This movie is epic. It is a harrowingly beautiful portrayal of a female Marine veteran struggling with trauma (most likely PTSD and MST). What makes this movie so broadly accessible and moving on an emotional level is its purposeful omission of details about the events that actually caused her trauma. What the viewer is left with is a portrayal of humanity's struggle to wade through the pain of dealing with the aftermath of trauma. In other words, intentionally leaving out a visual description of her traumatic events allows the viewer to use their imagination and relate her trauma to trauma that they have personally experienced. The acting is superb, the visual symbolism throughout the movie is intricate, and perhaps most importantly, the story of females veterans is finally getting the advocacy it deserves. Do not miss this movie.

Dry boring movie that had potential

Awful dry boring movie. Story line had potential and the actress is a great actress but the movie was just dry, slow and didn't evolve.
