Amazon’s delayed release aside, Atlanta season 2 is a fantastic show! Based on episode 1, it seems to have the same comedic styling, insightful stories, and perfect performances of season 1, with more intense and dire stakes. I can’t wait to see more! I just hope the delay is a one time deal, and that we get each episode the day after each new episode
(its been a few months smoke sessions since i watched this so please bear that in mind)
i feel like my memory is telling me that this season started off a bit slow, but about halfway thru, it really picked up. in fact, some of the best tv i have watched in awhile. loved how they focused on a character per episode, each a self-contained, concise little anecdote that really helped flesh out each character.
theres a lot going on in this show. simple and deeper comedy. little nuances that hint at emotions and intentions without hitting you over the head. sadness, despair, hope, friendship, loyalty, selfishness, depression . . . all at the same time, just like life.
It's one of those programs that shows you what TV can [and is meant] to be without me even knowing what I was missing before seeing it. I say this as a 50 year old white woman currently living in St. Paul, Minnesota [not that that necessarily matters]. Sounds silly and pretentious but in many ways, it's a show about the human condition, using Atlanta as a backdrop. Darius is my favorite :) *So* many great quotes, especially in season 1. Everyone should be watching this!!
Season one was really great, this season was strange but had some really awesome episodes. I found myself less engaged overall, but I still love PaperBoi so much! I understand the theme of the season, but it just wasn't as "watchable" to me.
This delivers on the promise of the first season. All of the characters are developed further, the plots are even more real and strange, and the episodes are shot with startlingly beautiful cinematography. Do yourself a favor and check this out.
