Anthony Pedone, producer of more than 20 films, beautifully transitions his way into the director's chair with An American in Texas. Winner of the coveted Golden Stone Award for Best Fiction Film at SCENECS, An American in Texas follows a rebellious group of punk-rock youths in small-town Texas in 1990, as they struggle against preconceived external notions of what paths their lives should take. Set against the backdrop of the booming Gulf War, a different kind of war plays out internally within this group of friends.
Direction- Simply fantastic, which I believe the movie, as a whole, demonstrates
Cinematography- Beautiful and compelling
Soundtrack- Quite possibly my favorite part of this film, emotional and powerful when needed
Story- Original, exceedingly well executed, rewatch value will be high with this one
This is a really good film, coming from someone with more than 630 films in my collection.
I say bravo as well as encore to the director, and I eagerly await Pedone's next offering.
