First I want say for anyone who has a short attention span or needs constant CGI and action this one is not for you. For those who enjoy Unsolved Mysteries and a good murder tale this one is for you! The characters are all very well developed and that was achieved with just some slight backstory and how great the acting itself is. It felt very believable and had more of the vibe of an episode of a really gripping series than just another hollywood crapper. I'm very excited about recent indie movies, they are so much more entertaining and so much less insulting to ones intelligence than anything coming out of tinsel frown.

I don't particularly like the idea of using stars to rate this film, or really any film that takes risks. That being said, to this day I have yet to find another film that creates an atmosphere of uncertainty while simultaneously combining curiosity and dread. I think they key word here would be 'experience'; the experience of watching this film is unique... unfamiliar, imagine flying to another part of the country, at least 2 hours out of your timezone and only being able to understand what is directly in front of you when you get off the plane, you speak the language, use the currency, and probably have at least a rough understanding of the area, and yet one cannot help but feel out of sorts. Not to say the film is tone deaf, in fact this film has a very consistent tone throughout, unfamiliar yet enticing. This is why I feel the film is so difficult for many to accurately review, it hits all the marks of what I think should be considered to be an excellent film, but almost all in ways that still manage to make those marks feel foreign to the viewer.

Tedious and boring, none of the actors had any energy as if they did not want to be there, not one character was likeable. The movie started out with the death of a woman, yet no one talked about her other than mention her at odd times, no one really looked that they mourned not even her husband, the child is creepy, nothing about the plot is sensible nor believable, it is just cliché, even the doctor is dumb. I understand building up suspense but they failed at it, when a solution is so clear to anyone watching. This film is just your typical parody of a backwoods hick community were inbreeding has made everyone stupid and they go around with guns and call their kids July Rain.

I enjoyed this movie and the story line. I did however figure it out half way through the movie. Some say it was slow but I liked that it gave you a story and why they were there in the first place. The trauma brought on what happened to the boy. It was eerie and I love the small town feel of it.

This movie does start slow. They maybe could've written the script to start when the little boy, Lawrence, meets the doctor who believes him.

From that point, it's a much faster and intriguing story.

Finally. A thriller that doesn’t rely on jump scares! The acting is Brilliant. The writing is great. Overall a very special film worth watching!

Please do not pay attention to the negative reviews. I'm glad I didn't. This is a very good movie. It had a surprise ending I didn't see coming.
