No, all the buttons are accessible with the case on.

With the case closed the charger can be connected through the opening in the case. The connectors for USB (charger connector) and for HDMI are accessible with the case open as long as the case is not being used as a stand.

The case that I bought didn't fit the kindle fire well because it is made for the new kindle. You would have to remove to charge for the fire. I haven't used mine because of that reason

I do not have to remove my Kindle Fire HD from the case to charge it. There is an opening on the "spine" of the case where I can plug in the charging cord.
