After that, the mouse itself is very accurate, the buttons are responsible, and it feels like a genuinely well made mouse.
The side buttons are non-intrusive.
Edit: 5 months later, no problems (I'm used to getting problems by now)
Update 10/1/2016
Decided to use this mouse as my main mouse at work. I love it. Been using it everyday for 5 days and during our lunch heroes games. Feels as good as my 2012 Razer Deathadder. Note I normally set the dpi on my Deathadder to 3100.
I don't go in for silly flashing Led's that draw attention for no purpose other then to draw attention to itself. I do wish I could change the breathing colored Led to solid on. But after testing out the sensitivity settings, I do like the different colors to tell me which setting I'm using.green is just about perfect for working in a document. Yellow lets me jump quickly across multiple monitors. The most sensitive setting (red) is definitely high precision and probably higher than I want and the highest speed (pink) is probably faster than I ever want so this tells me it's able to give me a good working range of settings. Green is the third setting and the one I like the most so I think we are right in the sweet spot so that's good.
The middle scroll wheel does the job quite nicely. The indents there to give you a positive feel for each notch you roll the wheel, but smooth and quiet. They could have a little more positive notch to it if you wanted to make a "perfect" mouse because it does feel a bit mushy, but that's if you want me to be super-picky...the wheel does the job.
The cord even has a fine over braiding on it. It does give it a bit of a premium feel. Who knows if it really helps or not. There's also an actual ferrite on the USB end that's to reduce the EMI. That's another area that ultra cheap accessories always skimp. You may never notice that little detail, but if you've ever had a PC or laptop that had a strange buzzing in the speakers when you moved your mouse that missing ferrite is the reason.
Only con is I wish I had gotten it earlier. So far, I'm liking it better than the $40 mouse it replaced! I got mine for just under $8, if you need one then you should probably get one before the price goes up because it's worth more than I paid. Having said that, I just hope it lasts a while...if it dies on me I'll come back and update this review.
Shape\Action
The shape is similar, though not exact, to the Deathadder. The coating is decent but seems to collect oils from skin. It is easy enough to clean with a quick wipe. There is texture on both sides of the mouse (thumb and pinky area) however it is hard plastic. The texture helps, but not as much as if it were rubber or something a bit more grippy.
Buttons:
The primary right and left buttons have a solid feel and satisfying click, though the click sound may be a little loud to some. I really like the position and feel of the 2 side thumb buttons, very easy to locate without looking. Being slightly raised goes a long way to prevent accidental clicks.
Wheel:
The mouse wheel is my least favorite aspect of this mouse. The wheel itself is rubber, but there is no texture on it. The rubber gets slick from the oils on your hand which leads to your finger not immediately sticking to the wheel. Additionally I wish the rotation of the wheel, each click, scrolls a little more then I would like. Overall it works fine and has a satisfying click like the primary buttons, just a few negatives that may be more person preferences then anything else.
Features/Colors:
The mouse has 4 led colors that strobe/pulse. Each color represents a DPI setting, so if you want it to light red, you will have to stick to the DPI setting that accompanies that color. This may be off putting for some that wanted to coordinate the color to their computer. It also has a thread wrapped cord which you usually don't see on a mouse under $40.
Overall:
For the price, I would not expect any of the features listed above. The fact that this has replaced a mouse that cost $70 and I have not had a serious complaint is kind of amazing. So far it has worked flawlessly and is 100% mac compatible as well.
Top reviews from other countries
Was five star but I have reduced it to 3. Since it has broken after just under a year. It was a good mouse and comfortable but I had expected for £10 that it would have lasted longer than a year. I have had cheap mice for under £5 that have lasted longer. I will be looking for a replacement mouse elsewhere that will hopefully last longer than 11 months.
Only one minor issue for me: the mouse is shaped for right handed people but I'm left handed which means that I sometimes inadvertently press the two forward/back buttons on the side of the mouse. When on the Internet, this can be a little annoying as it then takes me to a different page.
It's only a small problem and I would still recommend it.
The mouse is very comfortable to use and has a decent grip. The buttons work perfectly too.
Note: Light has six colours, but they are tied to the speed settings, so if you care for the mouse speed you will end up sticking to just one of the colours most of the time (if red is your favourite - tough, it's the lowest speed).
