Wildlife Rescue League is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife with the intent of releasing them back into their native habitat. Our licensed rehabilitators, located throughout the Northern Virginia and surrounding areas, work with a network of volunteers, wildlife centers, animal shelters, humane societies, nature centers and veterinary hospitals to provide life-saving help for wildlife in need.
WRL provides support to the rehabbers in the form of food and supplies that they need to rehabilitate wildlife. WRL also provides warming devices to our volunteer transporters to make sure the wildlife stays warm on the long trips to the rehabbers.
The Wildlife Rescue League gives out bird feeder kits at public events so that people can enjoy wild birds. The bird seed that is provided in the kits comes in a biodegradable, unscented pet waste bag.
Bird rehabilitators often have fledglings learning to fly and feed themselves. Birds that have been injured or sick also have to "get back on their feet" and fly. These feeders go in flight cages while the birds are getting better.
Sometimes wildlife comes in with injuries or conditions that need to be treated with antiseptic solutions. You've likely had this if you've ever been in a hospital! Rehabilitators need it for their patients too.
