Fifty percent of our residents are totally blind and the half have severe visual impairment, but can see shadows and large print. Large button phones allow these residents to stay connected to family and friends.
Many new residents come to Friedman Place with few possessions and few blindness skills. We ask that all residents learn to use white canes when outside of their apartments. This will help us provided free white canes to our low income residents.
