Works as advertised on iPhones and iPads with programs that support it. Very little setup required. Even better with jailbreak apps such as emulators, which let you configure the controls. The jailbreak app Blutrol improves the app support tremendously by mapping buttons to presses on a specific part of the screen. Buttons are snappy and responsive. Nice D-pad. Lightweight and easy to fit in a pocket.
-Very confusing choice of button mapping compared to the iCade. The leftmost buttons on the iCade correspond to the shoulder buttons and the start/select buttons on the 8-Bitty. This makes for annoyances on games that support the iCade but not button reassignment, such as Midway Arcade - e.g. fire on Defender maps to a shoulder button.
-If you're running stock iOS, the game has to specifically support the iCade.
-Phillips head screw over the battery door? Who thought that was a good idea?
As of September 3, 2013, due to changes in the Android bluetooth stack, the 8-Bitty is not supported by devices running Android 4.3, including the new Nexus 7. Huge bummer. If you have an Android device, make 100% sure that it supports your device and operating system before you buy.
I bought this on sale at ThinkGeek for $15. It was a steal at that price, easy to recommend. $30 is a tougher choice, but it's worth it if you have an iDevice and games that support it, especially if you're jailbroken. Definitely do your homework if you're buying for use on an Android device.
Although it paired as a keyboard with my Win7 HTPC, each button seems to send a two letter combination each time that it is pressed. Doesn't make much of a remote this way, but may work if the program you're using has a supported profile.
Slightly rounded corners may have been nice, but I've used it for 2 hour stretches without any discomfort.
Update: As someone else mentioned, this no longer works with Android 4.3. This may also be why it did not work with a Samsung tablet, as I believe that Samsung has typically used their own Bluetooth stack.

Bought this to use with MAME and it doesn't work at all. In 2013 things like this should just work and not require endless configuration. Read morePublished on October 5, 2013 by Eric Marchewitz
