This kit allows power to be carried on 10/100 networks over the spare, unused pairs of a CAT5, CAT5E, CAT6 or CAT7 Ethernet network cable. On shorter network lengths, The power source could feed the wireless access point, IP video surveillance camera,Ip phone etc.

This Kit contains both very cost effective injector and splitter. The injector inserts the DC voltage at the source location into the 5.5mm x 2.1mm injector plug,
Then the DC voltage run through the spare pairs of the 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T network cable to the Splitter side,
And the splitter splits the DC voltage from the network cable into the 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC jack.

Not a PoE standard device, but it's a good way to cheat a single cable installation

Most of the negative reviews seem to center on people trying to use these in conjunction with dedicated PoE devices (injectors or end-devices). This is most useful for cheating a single cable installation for a device which normally would require a wall-wart power adapter nearby. Anyone planning a long cable run or high current draw needs to be realistic about the power losses to be expected over such small gauge wires.

Connect POE IP Camera to Airport Express Simply, Effectively, and Inexpensively.

All I had to do was connect one to each end of my 25 foot CAT 5 ethernet cable and I had POE. It was the solution that I needed since my Airport Express didn't not have POE capability. As you can see from the picture, you get two. I have had one connected to my Airport Express and 2A power supply inside the house and the other one connected to my Amcrest high def bullet camera outdoors. It has been several weeks, and I have had no problems. It is a very simple, effective and inexpensive solution. I love a good deal like that.

Exactly what I needed for the installation of two ADT cameras. I have two cameras I purchased from ADT a couple years ago. When the installers in Hawaii sold me the cameras, they did not leave adapter with me. Now that I'm stationed in Maryland I needed the adapter since ADT no longer sells the camera model that required these. These arrived the next day after ordering. The ADT tech came back out and had no issue getting the cameras working.

Works Great! Using with several TRENDnet IP cams that lack PoE support. DIN connectors are perfect size for DC jacks on TREDNnet products, and many other popular IP cams. Provides a nice work around for deploying such devices, so you can do a single wire (Ethernet) install of cheaper IP cams that lack official PoE support.

Simple, inexpensive power injector, but not true PoE, beware of limitations

A simple, inexpensive power injector. Male barrel connector on one end, Female barrel connector on another end.

Unfortunately, "passive" PoE injectors don't always play well with true PoE equipment.
-Passive PoE injectors don't have power protection or negotiation
-Passive PoE injectors use half the wires, so might work with 100baseT, but won't work with gigabit ethernet (which need all 4pairs)
-True PoE devices use >48 volts, so the voltage drop along the line is manageable. However, wIth a passive device, sending ~12V along a ethernet cable will result in a voltage drop that might not work with long cables.

Read up on PoE before you decide this will do your job..

Great for budget PoE Needs

This works great. I was hoping that I could only use the injector end and plug it into a poe enabled device but this did not work. It only worked when using both the injector and the splitter together. There's nothing wrong with that though, I was just hoping for a minimal/clean setup.

I have now bought more of these, all seem to be working great for both WAPs and 10/100 switches. The construction seems quite durable. There seems to be two types of packaging both containing the same product. Pictures added.

Great product, works great for me!

These work great, just what I needed. Its much easier working with these than trying to figure out which PoE standard my cheap Chinese IP "PoE" cameras use... I wish the RJ45 end was a tad bit smaller so I didnt have to terminate and connect the camera in the attic but thats not any kind of defect on the company's side. These are cheap (cost) and so far work fantastic. I understand all of the math and logic behind attenuation with these, but same goes for the 802. PoE standard.. this is just a lot smaller and easier to tuck away in my server rack than having a PoE brick and power supply. Also the build quality on these are very nice and solid. I see them lasting forever.

3 out of 6 were defective. Does not work as a true POE injector. None of my POE phone would power up without using both ends, other phones would randomly reboot. These devices have issue in the way the power is wired internally and it interferes with the ethernet signal somehow. Suggest against buying until the mfg fixes what should be a simple device.

UPDATE 2014.12.20: Manufacturer has apologized and offered POE injector as replacement, so I commend them on that.
After running continuity test on this device, it seems that only wires 1,2,3 and 6 are connected which means that power is being supplied over signal pairs instead of spare pairs. POE specs says that a POE device should be able to accept both methods. But, several of my SPAxxx phones were randomly rebooting. Replacing this device with a dedicated POE injector or the original power adapter directly seems to have solved the issues.

I've contacted the seller and explained my findings in detail.

These POE injector/splitter pair are not wired correctly so they only work if you use them as a pair. You cannot use the injector alone to power a POE camera directly.Read more
