Product Description

Note: This kit need the external power adapter to power on the device.
Passive PoE Injector and PoE Splitter Kit allows low cost of delivering power over the network cable for shorter distances.

This kit allows power to be carried on 10/100 networks over the spare, unused pairs of a CAT5, CAT5E, CAT6 or CAT7 Ethernet network cable. On shorter network lengths, The power source could feed the wireless access point, IP video surveillance camera,Ip phone etc.

This Kit contains both very cost effective injector and splitter. The injector inserts the DC voltage at the source location into the 5.5mm x 2.1mm injector plug,
Then the DC voltage run through the spare pairs of the 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T network cable to the Splitter side,
And the splitter splits the DC voltage from the network cable into the 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC jack.
Power feed Pins: 4/5(+), 7/8(-)

What in box?

1 x PoE injector cable;
1 x PoE splitter cable;"

Most of the negative reviews seem to center on people trying to use these in conjunction with dedicated PoE devices (injectors or end-devices). This is most useful for cheating a single cable installation for a device which normally would require a wall-wart power adapter nearby. Anyone planning a long cable run or high current draw needs to be realistic about the power losses to be expected over such small gauge wires.

All I had to do was connect one to each end of my 25 foot CAT 5 ethernet cable and I had POE. It was the solution that I needed since my Airport Express didn't not have POE capability. As you can see from the picture, you get two. I have had one connected to my Airport Express and 2A power supply inside the house and the other one connected to my Amcrest high def bullet camera outdoors. It has been several weeks, and I have had no problems. It is a very simple, effective and inexpensive solution. I love a good deal like that.

Works Great! Using with several TRENDnet IP cams that lack PoE support. DIN connectors are perfect size for DC jacks on TREDNnet products, and many other popular IP cams. Provides a nice work around for deploying such devices, so you can do a single wire (Ethernet) install of cheaper IP cams that lack official PoE support.

This works great. I was hoping that I could only use the injector end and plug it into a poe enabled device but this did not work. It only worked when using both the injector and the splitter together. There's nothing wrong with that though, I was just hoping for a minimal/clean setup.

I have now bought more of these, all seem to be working great for both WAPs and 10/100 switches. The construction seems quite durable. There seems to be two types of packaging both containing the same product. Pictures added.

3 out of 6 were defective. Does not work as a true POE injector. None of my POE phone would power up without using both ends, other phones would randomly reboot. These devices have issue in the way the power is wired internally and it interferes with the ethernet signal somehow. Suggest against buying until the mfg fixes what should be a simple device.

UPDATE 2014.12.20: Manufacturer has apologized and offered POE injector as replacement, so I commend them on that.
After running continuity test on this device, it seems that only wires 1,2,3 and 6 are connected which means that power is being supplied over signal pairs instead of spare pairs. POE specs says that a POE device should be able to accept both methods. But, several of my SPAxxx phones were randomly rebooting. Replacing this device with a dedicated POE injector or the original power adapter directly seems to have solved the issues.

I've contacted the seller and explained my findings in detail.

It works, but be careful about the voltage drop. Normally router needs 12v/1A, mine needs 12v/2A. After using these through a 20 ft CAT6 cable, I only get 10.8 V at the router side. The router will still start, but it will drop speed when both ethernet and both band of wireless are in heavy use. My wifi speed drops from 144m to 12m if I download at full speed at ethernet port. You will need a 14v power supply to get at least 12v-12.5v at the router.

Purchase 4 of these to avoid having to run both network and power lines through the attic. Tested with 50" shielded cat5e cable and very little power loss at the other end. More than enough power available to run the 1A IP camera attached. They feel sturdy and well crafted.

I was contemplating buying a few more but noticed the price had almost doubled since this purchase so I'll wait for them to come down.

I recently moved and my new home had some paranoid guy living in it before me who had like eight iCamera 1000 security cameras installed in the house through ADT, and left them when he moved. To reconfigure them, I either had to start forking over something like $45 a month to ADT... or just configure them myself. Bought one of these and within 3-5 minutes I had the cams reconfigured myself to my wi-fi with no help or monthly charge from ADT.

So if you're wondering if this helps with configuring power over ethernet cameras, yes. Yes it does.
