DO NOT BUY this product is terrible, it just doesn't work, its as if the wire connecting the strap to the clip was just a pice of plastic, I built my computer trusting the product, after all its Ifixit, right? Well after I finished the build I noticed the plastic films protecting my devices where sticking to my body as if I had some static on my body so I decided to test the strap with a multimeter and sure enough theres no continuity between the clip and the strap, I tested on resistance, continuity and as a bridge between a battery and an led and nothing worked theres just no continuity between the strap and the wire so no matter where you connect the clip to it just won't work, so now I have a dead motherboard and a wrist band and both dont do shit so my advice, skip ifixit and if they manage to mess something this easy I expect they mess up something more complicated such as their kits with screw tips.
TL;DR DO NOT BUY IFIXIT

No More Shocks!

My 1x30" belt sander often shocks me, especially when the humidity is very low. This little devise stopped that, so it does it's job perfectly. But there is one design flaw, and that is the elastic strap. First, I can see is stretching out over time. Second is the fact that I have small wrists and I have to cinch it up quite small to make a tight fit. Consequently, fitting my hand through the loop is a pain. I wish the strap was Velcro, instead.

Also, just a nitpick, I also wish the cord was not coiled, instead being just a long, straight cord instead.

All computers booted with no problems due to this wrist strap. I will touch the metal case of a computer before touching any components regardless, but this is a reliable tool for anybody wanting to build a computer.

People will tell you that you need one of these things, but honestly, so long as you haven't been building up static electricity in your body since 1972 and don't ice skate around your house in socks all day whist building your computer, you don't actually need one. Still, as anti-static bands go, its a nice one, comfortable and well built whist being light enough to not really notice, and definitely very good if you regularly build PC's, but as a one time thing, unless you really want the peace of mind, you can go without.

Some people say you don't "need" it. That may be true but I also don't think it's such a bad idea to be safe rather than sorry especially for such a low cost.

I am an avg user who likes to do his own work when needed. I wasn't about to go out and spend $70+ on an anti static mat when I'd likely only need to pull it out once every cpl of years or so. I also know I'm the type of person who gets so caught up into what I'm focusing on that I'd forget to ground myself every so often. For the minimal cost of this thing it was an easy purchase just for the piece of mind.

I'm a pretty avg size guy with rather think legs from sports and this was still able to fit my ankle quite comfortably. The cable is long enough to attach to a ground location and still offer plenty of room to move. I can't comment on the durability of it because I've only just got it and only used it in action once. For $10 and how little I plan to actually use it though I can't imagine this will wear out anytime soon. I think it's worth it.

Here's the thing. You really do not need one of these. If you work or live in an environment that produces a crazy amount of static electric then you really shouldn't be fixing or building computers there.

You can easily just ground yourself by touching a grounded object like a plugged in power supply or a light switch. Take off your socks when working and avoid carpet. I bought mine and used it for 5 minutes and then got mad at the restrictiveness of the lanyard. It's a nice product, but it's more of a gimmick. You'll do fine without this, take proper precautions. Save the money from this and put it towards a fan or something.
