iFrogz are, and have been my favorite wireless bluetooth earbuds for a couple of years now, because of the sound quality delivered and ease of use.
The Impulse Duo is no less for quality, and the new concept of a dual driver is definitely groundbreaking and an increase in audio range and quality. But the specific design of the Duo's, with the earbuds being offset at an angle makes it difficult to adjust for a comfortable fit while enjoying the full range that they are capable of.
The plastic casing of each earbud is bulky and awkward, and tends to irritate the ear canal and periphery of the ear after 30 minutes of use.
Suggestion: extend the neck of the earbuds and develop a more "ear-friendly" design that will further extend the casing from the ear of the listener.Though they might protrude from the ear a bit more, they would be much more comfortable to wear, and therefore much more appealing to customers.
I LOVE the sound quality of these earbuds! But I can only stand to wear them for no more than a half an hour before they begin to lose their ability to ride comfortably within the ear canal.
Overcome this issue, and iFrogz could, and will beat out the competition in quality, comfort, and ease of use.
UPDATE 7/15/2019:
After surrendering the benefit of the doubt and giving this model of the iFrogz wireless headset more than three weeks before formulating a final opinion, I am hereby doing so without reservation:
This model of wireless earbuds is definitely a game changer with its dual driver technology. HOWEVER; They are EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and PAINFUL to wear for any amount of time.
I tried everything from changing the sizes of the rubber boots, to rotating the earbuds within my earcup/canal, with the same results: THEY HURT!
Although the sound is ALMOST worth soldiering the pain, at the end of the day I was left with extremely irritated ears, and with serious doubt about this product.
The oddly rectangular shaped housing for the "dual driver" is far too large, and too close to the earbud stem to achieve ANY level of comfort by the wearer. This makes for a frustrating period of time of adjusting the earbuds for comfort, snug fit, and finding that "sweet spot" which delivers the best of the best sound. But that NEVER came to fruition due to the poor design of these earbuds. I found myself faced with a choice between great sound and an uncomfortable fit- or crappy sound with a momentarily comfortable fit at best.
iFrogz - your previous model of earbuds (iFrogz Impulse) sound AWESOME, and I use them every day, although they are over 3 years old! I had very high hopes for your "Impulse Duo's", but was sadly disappointed with its sacrifice of comfort for a PHENOMENAL sound! This is a trade-off which is definitely NOT sustainable for your company, and with the rapid change in technologies and copycat manufacturing on the rise, you may have just missed the bus to the land of TRUE GREATNESS with regards to this design.
These earbuds ALMOST knocked it out of the park!
Since I was looking anyway, I thought I'd check how bluetooth earbuds are doing - Apple's are both WAY too expensive and badly designed (I do NOT want 2 unconnected pieces, which means it becomes trivially easy to drop and lose one). It seems that, by and large, wireless earbuds in the ~$25 range (which is all I'm willing to pay for something likely to wear out in ~18 months - in my experience pricier ones do sound better, but don't last any longer) sound about as good as wired ones in the ~$10 range, and fall below my tolerance for mediocre audio quality.
I've never heard of iFrogz before, but I found these on a product review after being dissatisfied with my 3rd or 4th try. They sound quite decent - doubtless there are much higher end, but they certainly fall into the range of sufficient for my purposes.
The ways in which they miss the mark are in the design. Some of my gripes are pretty minor - as best I can tell, there's no marking indicating which is the left and which the right earbud, so I have to keep reminding myself which way they're supposed to tilt when stuck in my ear. Also, since both cords come out of the control box at the same spot, one always ends up just a LITTLE too short to loop around behind me neck, clipped to my shirt collar, comfortably. Letting it stay in front means either that the control box is waving around in my way, or the cords or pushing up under my jaw (since they keep some curve, spending much of their time coiled up).
That said, the flexible magnetic clip, which can be used to keep the cords neat when put away and to keep the controls in place while they're worn, is inspired. If the control box were set inline in a longer right cord, as is fairly typical, they'd be absolutely perfect. If you happen to wear button-down shirts, or maybe even have a breast pocket, most of the time, this gripe probably won't matter to you at all.
