I put 7 digital calipers through a series of tests to determine their over-all accuracy, precision & repeat-ability.
This Caliper Performed On-Par with the Mitutoyo Digimatic Digital Caliper Which Costs OVER 2 Times More.

If you're in the market for a digital caliper you need to decide if you are in the under $50 price category or over $50 price category. For a long time there was a huge gap in the market in the over $50 category. Most people either bought a cheapo caliper or went for the Mitutoyo absolute origin caliper which costs $120. iGaging has filled that gap with their OriginCal absolute origin digital caliper. It functions and performs nearly identically to the Mitutoyo. So much so, that if you removed the labels, you would hard to tell them apart. If you need a quality, absolute origin digital caliper, this one is the best value for the dollar hands down.
If you want something cheaper, the iGaging EZCal is the second place winner, and blew the low end of the market out of the water:

Which is clearly stated in the items description !!
. A great advantage is the automatic zero. Just perform the initial setup according to the clearly written, simple instructions. After that you can use it many times without rechecking the zero point, which is locked in.
. One of the control switches lets you toggle among three display modes: metric in millimeters, digital inches, and SAE measurement to the nearest 1/128th of an inch. The only thing I would have liked better would have been a simultaneous display of digital inches and fractions, but that's ok, you can toggle between them.
. The best thing about the instrument is that it does NOT have automatic cut off or wake up. Either of these features requires a detector circuit that is always on and slowly drains the battery in storage. I have two other calipers with those nonsense features and I have the considerable hassle of installing the little dry cell before using them and taking it out before putting them up. If I don't, I take the caliper out when it's needed only to find its button cell dead.
. Anyway, automatic off/on isn't needed. Anybody who can read the display screen can plainly see if the device has been turned off when putting it away. I'm grateful this caliper doesn't have that.
Have not changed battery a single time so far (and it's been a few months now). The display is nice and large. And most importantly, the measurements are always precise since it's an absolute caliper.
Well worth the extra money
