Good stuff

I've tried many other books on iOS programming, but this one is the best. The writing (and more importantly - the EDITING) is top notch. The material progresses in a sensible way. The exercises are interesting and well taught.

1. This book is printed in black and white, where the digital version is in color.
2. It has editing comments that should have been taken out during editing.
3. At the end of the section 4 page 724, the book states that due to print size limitations, the final chapters are available as part of the downloadable source code materials and then it gives you a link. When you visit that link, there are no chapters for you to read, only source code. So, you basically pay full price for an incomplete book. Excellent business model already.

Needless to say, do not get the printed version of the book. Actually DO NOT get this book at all. It has been renamed to UIKit Apprentice, and in you decide to get this printed copy of the iOS Apprentice book, beware, the only way to get the missing chapters 29 -36 is by spending more money on buying the online version of UIKit Apprentice.

Besides that hurdle, once you get the remaining chapters, it's a great starting book for Swift and iOS development.

Physical book is incomplete - consider digital version

NOTE: The physical book doesn't have all the chapters. Chapters 29-48 are available for free download if you buy the physical book but the physical book does NOT have them. The physical book is also just black and white whereas the digital version is in color. This is significant because the colors in Xcode indicate keywords, literals, etc. The digital version also receives updates that you can download for free. After a very quick scan of the pdf version, it looks like the formatting is good.
