I have a 2012 Honda Civic and the product does not work well. It adheres to the windshield solid as a rock (but I don't want it there; read on)... but everywhere I wanted to place it on the dash would not work. Either the dashboard pad or the sticky suction cup would give way after no more than one minute. I tried placing it on the dash hump over the instrument panel (that mirrors the curve of the steering wheel) and it stuck perfectly (and stayed) however it obstructed my view. Windshield mount is not an option in the Civic because it either obstructs your view, or the telescopic arm isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the windshield where it wouldn't cause sight problems. In my opinion, there's no suitable place to mount this product in a 2012 Honda Civic (sedan) and therefore it is worthless to me. I am returning it. Despite other comments, I did not have success mounting it on a surface with a curve or a seam.

While I like the build quality of the item and like the overall idea, unfortunately I was left a little disappointed. This item could be perfect for most people but I personally have a few issues with the way the holder holds the phone. First, the suction works fine and the arms work fine. You are able to move the angles and arm length and lock them in place easily. That part of the holder works fine. The issue I have is with the one touch part. My phone (Nexus 6P) in a case is almost too wide for the holder, but it does fit. Because of this the one touch park of the mount doesnt work well because the phone is too wide and it doesnt clamp down well. Also, the side clamps are too high on the mount often causing the bottom part of my phone to not be held in well and will slip out a little. I do not like how you have to re-open the one touch mechanism by squeezing the buttons. Also, there is no way to manually tighten the sides other than the little one touch button. I would rather be able to manually squeeze the sides to tighten the phone in and have a button to release the tension.

extremely pleased with this purchase. Device is perfect for the purpose intended - to hold the phone securely and with stability with low effort insertion and extraction.

I see a few unfair ratings of 1-star, to those folks I say, to hold ANYTHING in place on a dash, a very strong adhesive is needed. Overlooking that just tells me that you didn't fully understand what you were needing. You would likely be the first to complain that the unit did not stick (hold in place) as well.

I can tell you, if you're concerned about sticking this directly to your vehicle dash (as it was for me), consider a non-stick base on which to suction the iOttie - I chose the Arkon GPS Friction Dash Mount. See pics for the setup I decided on and have been very happy because my wife has been very happy with it - the setup is in her 2006 Toyota Sienna.

This is the first solution that has worked on our van's highly textured dash. I was skeptical, but after the recommendation of a friend, I gave it a go. Nothing else had worked, so other than a little money, what did I have to lose?

I cleaned the dash with an alcohol wipe and applied the sticky gel pad and suctioned it on. Man, that is a strong grip! I was able to adjust the extension arm and angle it just right for where I need it and, even better, able to securely lock it down so it didn't move, even on the very bumpy dirt road we had to use repeatedly while on vacation. It's on there TIGHT!

It doesn't squeak or rattle, even on that bumpy road. I've only tightened it once since I installed it about a month ago, but that was just to make sure it hadn't worked itself loose after the initial install.

I use it with a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a small case on it and it works great and should fit even if I go for a phablet next time I upgrade my phone. It's easy to get the phone in and out and fits securely without crushing.

I would definitely recommend this product, or any iOttie products. They had a representative actually call me to make sure I was happy with my product and see if I had any questions. That's a nice touch! Makes me feel confident that if I did have any issues, I'd be able to get it resolved. But it comes down to the product working well for its intended use and boy, this one does! I can't believe it actually suctioned to my super textured dash!

The car I use this in is a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 ST.

First thing, the quality is a very strong plastic. It does not feel cheap in any way. The knobs that control the angle, length, and clip ball are extremely strong. When I drive, this mount stays in place solid. I work as a delivery driver (and need GPS). If I hit a bump, I don't ever to readjust the mount. The suction pad on the mount combines a sticky pad and air suction into one. The product states that it could damage the dash, but if you get in the right place your first time and don't plan on moving it anywhere...then its perfect.

Secondly, the adjustment levels are great for use on the dash. I used to use a mount that fit into the CD port on my radio, but since I upgraded the radio...I didn't want an ugly mount on my nice new Pioneer radio. This mount looks stylish and fits above my radio in just the right spot.

Third, the clip itself is strong on the phone and easy to connect and remove. I use a Blu Life 8 with the ArmorFlex case, and it stays in no problem. Its a 5 inch screen phone.

Overall, 5 stars. Better than any mount I've ever used (CD mount, heavy dash style, windshield suction).

Bought this for a Nexus 6P and it doesn't quite work:

Pros
- Suction/Grip attaches dashboard very well, even with a big phone bouncing all over the place

Cons
- Phone side grips press lower volume button of Nexus 6p, just barely
- Phone holder isn't tall enough to hold a nexus 6P, it bounces around enough to make me pull it out of the holder
- Doesn't securely hold a large, heavy phone like the Nexus 6P - my phone kept slipping out the top if it was turned sideways

I gave it 2 stars because it probably would work fine for phones w/ volume controls in different places and are smaller. But I wouldn't recommend this for a Nexus 6P.

I have tried many types of cell phone car mount holders over the years (windshield mounts, A/C vent mounts, console mounts, etc). This one is my very favorite for my car. I am using this mount on my 2003 Toyota Sequoia for mainly an iPhone 6. Here are the Pros and Cons.

Pros:
1) The box has a "will fit, won't fit" scale (see picture) clearly labeled. This is a neat "attention to detail" feature. You don't need to open the box to know if this mount will work for your phone. You just place the phone against the scale, and you can easily figure out if the mount will work for your phone.
2) Suction mechanism with sticky gel mounting surface. This feature sets this mount apart from the traditional suction mounting surface. The sticky gel surface allows for mounting on a smooth surface (windshield) or a textured surface (car console). The sticky gel surface is very grippy. In fact, it is so grippy that the mount can hold the phone for a period of time even without activating the suction mechanism. As expected, the sticky gel surface can be cleaned with a soapy solution and be as good as new. I decided to mount this car mount on the console, as it is less obstructive to driving view compared to mounting on the windshield.
3) Telescoping arm. This is another neat feature. The telescoping arm allowed me to install this mount on a flat surface towards the back of the console. I just adjusted the telescoping arm forward to a comfortable length. This feature was really well thought out.
4) Adjustable pivot arm. This allows for further adjustments for optimal viewing.
5) Pivot ball. This allows for adjustment of the phone for optimal viewing. Once optimal position is obtained, there is a tightening mechanism that is tightened by hand without needing extra tools or coins. This hand tightening mechanism is very ergonomic.
6) The adjustable "foot" allows for accommodation of bulky charging adapters. I am using a "30 pin to lightning adapter" which is quite bulky. No issues with this car mount.
7) One hand operation. I can easily insert and remove the iPhone 6 from this mount with just one hand. The mount has a neat "one tough" self tightening mechanism where you press the phone onto the mount to activate the spring loaded self tightening mechanism to hold the phone securely in place. To remove the phone, you squeeze the 2 lateral buttons.

Cons:
1) Bulky. May be an issue for folks traveling and planning on using this on rental cars.
2) The sticky gel surface requires a little "elbow grease" to remove. Although the mount removes completely from the surface without leaving any sticky residue, I consider this mount to be semi-permanent.

Car phone mounts generally suck. This one doesn't. It's that simple.

It's really well designed. It's fairly flexible in terms of positions and angles. It holds my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge securely, with or without the case. The bottom support for the phone moves left to right so as to not block any necessary ports on your phone. The spring loaded locking mechanism is quick and easy to use.

Let's talk about the actual mount now. Holy cow does this thing stick. Instead of the typical hard plastic, the suction cup is made out of some gooey tacky substance, so even when you release the pressure, it's still very hard to remove. I can absolutely see how it'd rip the vinyl right off of your dash if you didn't use the (provided) mounting pad. Heck, when I'm pulling it off of the windshield I'm half afraid I'll break the glass in the process. Ultimately, plan ahead, put this thing where you'll want it for the long haul, and leave it there. That being said, it works well even after repeated removals, and if the tacky substance gets dirty, you can just rinse it off to restore its tackiness. It survived a plane ride in a suitcase, and stuck to our rental car windshield quite well after a quick rinse to get off all the dust. I also like how there's an additional detent in the suction cup. As it gets older and gets less suction, you can push the lever down even further to get more suction (it'll make more sense when you see it)

All that being said, I have no doubt that this will stick to absolutely anything. It's the duct tape of phone mounts.

I've been using this dash mount for over a year and have been impressed with the function. I shared the concern about the potential damage to the dash from the strong adhesive, so I have utilized this only as a window-mounted device. Occasionally there is a rattling sound when on a less-than-smooth surface, but the mount holds well. Only one has it "melted" from the window and we have had some HOT Midwestern summer days. I found it sitting on the dash while parked in the sun. I remounted it and it hasn't moved since. I have a Galaxy Note 5, so it fits a larger phone well. For ease of charging, I purchased a longer-than-needed microUSB to USB cable to plug it in while docked, as my mobile chargers have coiled cords (but a USB plug as well).
