I have been waiting for this book as I know there is quite a buzz about incorporating IPADS in classrooms, and I wanted to know more about it. In reading through (and by the way, it's an easy, fun read..) - I am blown away by the possibilities this presents for our children. The school my children attend perceives itself as a school that promotes the use of technology, but in reality they do not know how to go about it. Most teachers want whiteboards for lecturing, and the children use a computer lab once in a while, largely as a tool to create nice documents.
This book gives a clear direction for integrating technology in schools. It opens new horizons for learning that place children in the center of a curiosity-based learning process; it shows how IPads can be used to share and increase interaction between children and teachers. More than anything else this opens the path for children to work through media which they love, and to expand their learning while having fun.
I am buying a copy for the school principal, head of our PTA and my children's teachers so they can lead our school to incorporate technology and benefit from the full spectrum of possibilities that IPADs can bring to our children' education.

Even after having used the iPad in the HS classroom for 3 years, I was still quickly becoming overwhelmed with managing and trying to keep up with new apps, operating issues, and new how to's. This book has solved those issues, with easy layout, bright pictures, step by step instructions, app suggestions, sample lesson plans, etc. This book goes above and beyond the functions of the iPad and really gets into its use in the classroom. Spring Break wasn't long enough to go through all the material covered in this gem. Thanks!

iPad in Education for Dummies is an excellent book. I have used the "for Dummies" books for years as I learned about computers. They have never disappointed me. This book is no exception. While I am well versed in the iPad and Education and work as an Integration Technology Specialist with a focus on incorporating iPads into the Elementary classroom I took a chance on this book as it was current and I figured that there was still much I needed to learn. I was not mistaken. It provides direction on how to begin a program but then moves into actual incorporation into the classroom. I have already been able to share a number of the ideas with the staff.

If you are looking for a pedagogical treatise this is not your book but if you are looking for a hands on/how to book this is the one for you. I recommend this book to the beginner or the advanced user. There is something for every educator.

What a wonderfully executed book. The organization made flipping to topics of interest easy and the explanations were understandable for the non-techie. I also loved the scope of this manual and found lots of topics that I hadn't even considered yet found invaluable upon reading. As a retired teacher who is now substituting in a variety of grade levels in several school districts, I have been disappointed to find these marvelous iPads used mostly as rewards after traditional work is done or for "choice time". iPad use can be so much more than finding a few good apps for students. Many schools purchased an iPad for each classroom to see how it goes. Without the application of the type of knowledge found in this book or from other sources, it won't go far educationally. I was an early iPad adopter while teaching in special education so I have some understanding of the potential of this technology. I will certainly be recommending this book to teachers and administrators.

The book was informative and thorough. Great ideas for classroom implementation and many of the apps are current and useful. My only fault is that Sam believes that since that iPad is such a personal tool that if you cannot implement 1-to-1 that one should look for other solutions. I would beg to differ. Although 1-to-1 is ideal the iPad is still a great tool when that is not possible.
