Anyway, 1st unit that came had dead batter, would only work when connected... So had to get replacement which was quick with prime. Overall works great, setting up was easy and programmed to be TV remote which is what I love about this unit!!!
I sat down on my bed which is about 5~7 feet away and at about same height as TV which we got high bed.... And that's when the problem started. I've seen few other reviews complaining about the rage... i figured serious if I'm sitting in 10 x 10 room with queen bed and chest where TV is on fills up the room, I should be ok...
NOPE! This unit has like 3 ft range. From the bed, I had to move mouse like 10 times just go half way across the screen to make netflix full screen. I tried different things like pointing in different direction and etc nothing worked... so returned it.
If they fix the range issue, this is a doable product with good feature. They get 3 star for that.
under $20, full keyboard, small so it can rest on arm chair, rechargeable battery, backlighting for entire keyboard, has 8 buttons available for 2 AV devices on backside.
It is charged with a USB Mini B port (not the USB Micro that most devices use to charge up). It does not have light for on off button, and letters are not colored so hard to tell if you left it on or not. You can not wake the keyboard up by moving touchpad, you have to push a button, so chances are it will stop what you are watching or mess with the screen window. Kinda hard to control "mouse" buttons, requires one hand for touchpad and other hand under trying to operate buttons (click and drag is NOT easy).
SUGGESTIONS to manuf:
- On / Off light
- Shake remote to wake it up, OR allow for wake with wiggle touchpad.
- Adjustable light sensor, even just low / high setting would be great so you can select when it lights keyboard.
- If dark allow for shake keyboard to light up keyboard.
- next proto round...use USB micro
- Place mouse buttons on left side of remote.
The downside: I don't have good, flexible, stretchable thumbs. I find the keys hard to reach regardless of my hand position. I also have very dry skin, and that challenges the accuracy of the touchpad. Avid touch screen cell phone users will not likely have these challenges.
In conclusion, it works and it's convenient. If I were to purchase another handheld, I'd look for a different configuration.
Besides the battery not working, I found the symbols for the indicator lights are very difficult to make out. I also found the user manual to be difficult to read, as its printed out on one of those tiny little 2" x 2" booklets, with small print. For a reference, I have 20/15 - 20/25 vison.
I wasn't able to really use it. It only worked on plugged into the provided usb cable. The trackpad seemed responsive, and the back light was bright.
