"Popping" at the hinge
on September 11, 2014
Here were my expectations: clear case, good quality, won't add too much weight, will protect my laptop from scratches, and will fit my macbook air.
The clear case is frosted and not crystal clear as I had hoped. It is of good quality (as far as I can tell) and it does not add too much weight (this is a big deal because as a college student I got the 11.6" mba because I wanted a lightweight/portable laptop for school and as a commuter student I have to carry everything with me in my backpack and any added weight is dramatic when calculating the weight of notebooks, textbooks, etc on top of the weight of my laptop). It seems to have the ability to protect against scratches, at least in the areas that are not exposed.
As for the fit, I followed the youtube video and I have done the installation multiple times to ensure that I'm putting it on correctly. All the hinges seem to be "clicked" in but the two back corners seem a bit loose as though they have been bent backwards. The corners are only really "on" when I have my laptop on a desk because the laptop's weight is pushing down on the case. Due to the space at the corners, I do get the clicking/popping that happens when the screen is pushed back, so at certain points I have to make sure to push the back corners of the bottom case upwards to ensure that I don't get that "pop". Perhaps I have installed the case incorrectly, despite following the video but I've reinstalled the case multiple times trying different techniques and nothing seems to be remedying the issue. Any help is appreciated. I really want this case to work out because it seems to be well worth the money.
As for the little stand/legs they seem very durable. The only thing is when opening them, I get a similar sort of "pop" on one of them, so I try to open it softly to try and keep this case going as long as possible.
