Over the past several years when buying or receiving some of the newer or more advanced hardware and software, I have made it a ritual to check Amazon.com to see if there is book for "Dummies" covering the particular item. Almost without fail, from "Dragon Naturally Speaking" to the latest "Photoshop" version to the basic and then advanced Apple iPhones, "Dummies" has crashed through for me. Well done, "Dummies!"

I'd like to emphasize that these invaluable gems are not read cover-to-cover by me, but consulted to answer numerous questions that arise as I use the particular item. Yes, I know, for free yet, you can go on-line, Google it, and get enough potential answer sites to peruse for a lifetime. How to choose which one?

That's where "Dummies" fits so nicely. Well indexed, logical chapter titles, excellent layout, pictures and diagrams, not to mention good cartoons, I find "Dummies" is the fastest and best way to get that elusive bit of info -- now. This book is no exception. The iPhone 4S is an incredible piece of electronics gear, playground, GPS, info source, news dispenser, etc., etc., etc. To even begin to navigate beyond its many basic capabilities I have found "Dummies 4S" invaluable -- and I have been using an iPhone almost since its inception. In other words, "Dummies" scores again. Thanks!

Debated on whether to buy iphone or not, but have used these books in the past. Bought the phone because I knew this book would answer all my questions in a way that I would understand. Love the book and the phone.

It was suggested by my children that getting an Iphone at 81 might not be the best thing to do. Well I am sooo much smarter than they are, I bought iphone for dummies and learned everything and then some fancy tricks and waited for my children to find their way to us, and when (during a wonderful dinner) my sons asked me how I was doing with the phone, I laid it all out for them and watched (with glee) their faces and their open mouths!!! Thank you, thank you. Lois A

this was a gift for my sister. She is using it and that's all that matters. The first thing she did was learned how to resize pictures, so I can see my 4 year old great nephew and her new 4 month old puppy. That's why I purchased the book for her to go with the refurbished phone that didn't come with a sim card or operating instructions. Thanks Amazon for always having whatever I'm looking for.

This is a terrific book and should be included with the purchase of every iPhone. I never would have gotten through it without this book! Maybe children can figure this stuff out but I needed and still need this book!

I have so many of these "for dummies" books. Color me obtuse, but without this book, I would still have this great phone sitting in the box. If I were 16, I'm sure all this would just come naturally to me. But I'm 76 and can use an iphone. I feel like such a smarty around my "old" friends. This book makes everything so clear and actually easy. I guess I should 'fess up and tell my friends why I'm so good at using my Iphone.

Bought this book for my father-in-law when we gave him his first iPhone. He seems to have most of the information he needs, and asks less questions of me. For Dummies books always seem to hit the mark.

The "Dummies" books are excellent.

This one was written before IOS7, so some of the descriptions and diagrams do not coincide with the I-Phone 4S IOS7.

After hours of trying to get my I-Mac's e-mail to sync with the I-Phone, and with steam coming out of my ears, I went to the Apple Communities and found a comment from two years ago that the mail will not sync if the server is using a POP account. Which mine is (Time Warner's Roadrunner. n.b. Roadrunner will upgrade this account by the end of May 2014). Bingo.
