I use these for my in-ear monitor system for vocals. They work dependably to get me through each gig without needing to recharge. I use one for a Sensaphonics custom unit and one for the Shure wireless receiver pack. Using a set of four batteries, I alternate two for each gig. Before using these rechargeables I went through two 9V Duracell Alkaline batteries for each gig. That cost can really add up. This last set of 520mAH lasted from September 2011 through March of 2014 through steady year-round work, and three of them are actually still good. I paid around $87 for a set of four in 2011, and I just completed a purchase (March 2014) for another four for $83, shipping included. These provide a huge savings over standard one-use-cycle batteries, and by lasting over two years they help the environment as well. I can't say enough about these. They are an excellent value!

I was handed one of these batteries by a colleague since he had removed it from some equipment in our office and replaced it with an Alkaline.... I'm not sure of the batteries history because it seems to have been installed long enough for various changes in facilities companies etc. to have separated it from it's charger, and anyone who knows who decided to use these batteries.

It is however faulty, I have tested it extensively and the internal protection circuit cuts off the charge after about 10% of the expected capacity, and well before the battery reaches it's rated 8.4v, when the charger is removed it drops to around 7.6v and can deliver only around 60mAh.

I believe that one of the cells has failed, and so there is a large voltage difference between the two cells and the protection circuit cuts off the power rather than charge one cell beyond it's rated max of 4.2v (which could cause a fire).... thus the protection circuit is operating correctly to make the faulty battery safe, which is a plus point!

The takeaway from this however, is that Li-Polymer battery chemistry is well suited to heavy use only... long term installation in low power equipment (as observed by another reviewer) is very un-economic and damaging to the battery. It's simply not worth buying this unless you have an application where it is used heavily and run flat in a few days or less, then recharged... long term low power use is also likley to destroy the battery as happened in this case.... li-polymer chemistry should not be left for long periods when nearly flat, and this will happen as the battery runs down slowly in long term use.

I purchased a couple of these about 4 years ago and used them about 3 times a year. I use them to power a microphone pre-amp and candidly they no longer will re-charge. For the additional cost that I invested I would of been better off just purchasing a 9 volt battery when I needed it. So, if your like me and you ONLY use them occasionally I would go the non- rechargeable route since $30 for a battery that only works for a few years isn't worth the investment UNLESS your ecology factor is much more important than your investment return. BTW I purchased a couple of the 50mAh rechargeable Li-Polymer batteries and still both eventually died and didn't let me recharge them.
