Maintain Gleaming Hard Floors, Every Day
Maintain gleaming hard floors, every day, with help from the Braava 380t Floor Mopping Robot. Smart navigation works like an indoor GPS to help Braava keep track of where it's been and where it needs to go. Choose from dry sweep or damp mop modes for a beautiful clean that suits your unique needs and home. Braava works great on all hard-surface floors, and at just 3.1" tall, is specifically designed to fit under most furniture, beds and kickboards. Easy, effortless and whisper quiet - Braava will clean your floors for you without disrupting your daily activities or sleep.
Braava's NorthStar Navigation system works like an indoor GPS, helping Braava keep track of where its been and where it still needs to go.
Simply attach a cloth, press the button for your desired mode and Braava gets to work. Then, when Braava is done cleaning, it returns to where it started and powers down - so you always know where to find it.
Braava cleans all hard-surface floors including tile, vinyl, hardwood, laminate, and more. Simply choose from two modes - dry sweeping or damp mopping - for the quick surface clean you want.
NorthStar Navigation Cube
The NorthStar Navigation Cube projects a signal that Braava uses to determine its location. As Braava cleans, it uses this signal to build a map of the area, mapping walls, obstacles and drop-offs as it encounters them.
Two Cleaning Modes
In dry sweep mode, Braava moves in straight lines back and forth to pick up dust, dirt and hair.
In damp mop mode, Braava uses a special back-and-forth action to pull deeper dirt and grime off your floors.
Designed to mop floors quickly and efficiently, the new iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot systematically covers your entire floor in a single pass. Braava uses disposable or microfiber cleaning cloths to pick up dirt, hair and dust from all your hardsurface floors including tile, vinyl, hardwood and laminate. Just attach a cloth, set Braava down, press a button and off it goes, using advanced robotic technology to track where it's been and where it needs to go. It's whisper-quiet too, so you can go about your daily activities without disruption. The included Turbo Charge Cradle is a convenient, one-stop charging and storage space, charging Braava 380t in as fast as two hours. Braava uses either disposable cleaning cloths, including Swiffer brand, or reusable microfiber cloths to remove dirt, dust and hair from your floors so you don't have to. Braava has two cleaning modes to choose from depending on the job you need done. In sweep mode, Braava dry mops your floors moving in straight lines using dry cleaning cloths. In mop mode, Braava uses a special back-and-forth mopping action and damp cleaning cloths to lift surface dirt and grime off your floors. With the Pro-Clean System included in Braava 380t, a special Reservoir Cleaning Pad dispenses liquid throughout the cleaning cycle to keep the cloth damp. Cleaning cloths are easy to attach and remove with Braava's removable magnetic multi-purpose cleaning pad. The NorthStar Navigation System 2 works like an indoor GPS that helps Braava keep track of where it has been and where it needs to go. The NorthStar Navigation Cube projects a signal that Braava uses to determine its location. Additional NorthStar Navigation Cubes can be purchased for the Braava 380t to expand the robot's dry mopping capabilities for bigger homes. As Braava cleans, it builds a map of the area, mapping walls, obstacles and drop-offs as it encounters them.
Top customer reviews
I assumed that, because this one is over $110 more than the smaller white mop by iRobot, it would be better. No ma'am!
This mop makes cleaning the floors ten times more tedious and 15 times less effective than just grabbing the Swiffer Wet Jet. Actually, since you can only put water in this, it's nowhere near as good.
While the smaller, cheaper, white version iRobot Braava jet 240 Mopping Robot - Robotic Mop sprays cleaning fluid/water out in front of it and mops it up (like a wet jet), this version does not. It just smears a TINY amount of water out of the leak hole in the water cavity. That holds almost nothing anyway. The only way I can actually get the floors wet enough is to soak the pad itself before I put it on the mop. Then, ten minutes later, its dried out again and I have to stop the robot and take off the pad and wet it again. Meanwhile, the water cavity has 85% of the water still in it.
Streaks galore on my wood floors. Don't get streaks with a Wet Jet.
The small white one works with an app on my smartphone. For $100 more, does this one? NO!
The cheaper white version has a vibrating head to scrub dirt and any stickiness from spills off. For $100 more, this one just smears dust over any any sticky spots and makes them dark!
The white, cheaper version automatically knows whether to do wet mopping, damp mopping, or dry sweeping. For $100 more, this crap version doesn't know what to do unless you tell it.
The cheaper, white version has three cleaning modes: wet, damp, dry. For $100 more, you get the subtracted benefit of only two modes: dry and "dry with a small wet streak down the middle"
The quick overview is that this has two different 'pads'...these pads are to what you attach either a) the sweeper cloth, or b) the mopping cloth/wipe.
The sweep function is basically dusting your floor - this is *not* a vacuum, and there is no dirt container. But it does a great job for what it is. That said, I use the Braava primarily for mopping (I have a Roomba (the iRobot Roomba and an ILIFE V5s Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Water Tank Mopping), so the rest of my review will be about that function.
The pad for the mopping cloth or wipe has a reservoir in the form of two channels running along the long sides of the pad; it also has a little bit of fabric in the center that wicks water from the reservoir onto the mopping cloth or wipe to keep it moist while mopping. It's a pretty ingenious design.
Why do I keep distinguishing between the mopping cloth, and a wipe?
Because this mopbot works with Swiffer wet mop refill wipes! (These: Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mopping Cloth Refills)
The way the guidance system works is that you set the "GPS for your floor" cube somewhere in the room that you are going to have the Braava 'sweep' or mop, making sure that the cube has a clear view of the ceiling (so the Braava can connect with the cube's onboard Northstar Navigation system), and once the Braava is connected to the cube it maps the room, providing guidance for the Braava as to where to go.
First, yes, it works!
Second, it's incredibly quiet. So quiet that it doesn't even bother the dog or cat! Or me, when I'm working on my computer in the same room.
Third, it fits *under the bed* (and I have a low bed!)
Fourth, it works. (Had to say that twice. :-) ).
It's not fast. But then, it's not taking up *your* time. If it takes 30-45 minutes or more to mop the floor, so what? You're still spending 0 minutes mopping your floor. :-)
So, why the removal of 1 star? On the mopping pad there are two velcro strips. The adhesive on the back of these velcro strips pretty much immediately started coming loose - after the very first use. This can be fixed with a judicious application of super glue, but seriously? If I'm paying $250 for a high tech *mopping* device, maybe you can use a slightly better quality of adhesive in an area that you know is going to be subjected to moisture?
Overall, I highly recommend this device, but add this to your order (I chose this one because I like the way it applies the best, and have never run into the issue of the tip drying out): Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue
This little robot is a helper, and keeping that in mind, you'll find your floors stay much cleaner in between your more dedicated cleaning sessions.
That's not to say you're completely out of the picture. You have a responsibility to use this robot, and while his AI is quite impressive at times, it is still an appliance. This is not entirely a "set it and forget it" robot. Think of it as other helpful appliances. Your dishwasher is great! But you still need to properly load it, pre-rinse when necessary, and occasionally still scrape some dry food off of a fork with your thumbnail. Your washer and dryer are fantastic! But you still need to make time for use in your evenings, transfer from one to the other, and darn it, they still don't fold your clothes.
The Braava, is like an appliance in that way. You don't need to babysit it (other than your first few run-throughs) but you need to be aware of it, take it from room to room, change pads, and charge as necessary.
Our home is ~1600 square feet and mostly hardwood floors with area rugs centered in the dining room and living room.
The Braava works most efficiently in our kitchen (pretty much rectangular) and bedroom (again a square with the bed, which comes all the way down to the floor, is centered on a wall and all of our dresser/end tables are legged tall enough for the little guy to easily get under.
The only prep these rooms need when I put Braava to work are; Kitchen) move the two little rug mats we have out of the way. Bedroom) move the dog bed out of the way.
The dining room and living room are connected through a doorway, and I suspect I'll want to get another Northstar Navigation cube to just combine them. As it is now, the Braava gets places I'd never get with a broom. Under the couches, under the book case...it's great.
It's quiet enough to let run while we're cooking, eating, watching TV etc... (though it's a little louder when mopping)
The methodical way in which it cleans was a surprise and is sometimes even fun to watch. They way it reacts to corners, walls, and furniture legs is impressive and it diligently works around them to cover every inch it can get to.
I found the Braava stuck once, so it's the one room that I wouldn't put it in and then leave the house. That room has an older couch where the arm "slopes" in towards the base. This slope was such that the Braava wedged itself and couldn't get unstuck. The rest of our furniture, though, is pretty straight angled and tall enough for the robot to clean under.
It does a wonderful job identifying our area rugs and the more open your floor plan, the quicker it will get around and signal it's done.
We use disposable swiffer pads for dry mopping and the reusable micro fiber for mopping.
We have a dog and a dirt driveway (wooded house) so we definitely are happy with the help in keeping sand, dirt, and hair to a minimum. Yes, the dog barked a lot at first. Yes, he got used to it within the first hour. Yes, we made a funny youtube clip of it which you can view here. [...]
Very pleased with this robot so far and would recommend it to anyone, assuming they know that they do need to actively use it in order to keep the house clean.
