Customers are mixed about the performance of the robotic vacuum cleaner. Some mention that it does well once an area is mapped, and does well for most toys. However, others say that it will see the floor mat and stop working.

"...Run for the mop make sure it has the DRY sweep pad on otherwise it won't do the run. The mop does recognize carpet so it doesn't spray near it...." Read more

Customers are mixed about the cleaning of the robotic vacuum cleaner. Some mention that the self cleaning feature is a true game changer, making it more convenient to keep the floors clean. They say that it can specify how they clean specific areas, like if they want the device to use high. However, others say that the normal cleaning does nothing, and that they need to tidy up before vacuuming. They also say that they can set no clean zones in the app, but it's not foolproof and will not prevent issues.
AI-generated from the text of customer reviews

The suction motor intelligently ramps up to ensure it cleans carpets as well. However, others say that it continues to get lost and has become unusable. Some customers also say that the vacuum doesn't get everything all the time and that it only vacuums for 25-30 minutes a night.

Customers are mixed about the mapping capabilities of the robotic vacuum cleaner. Some mention that the mapping is excellent, with some kinks to be worked out on the app side. They say that it can and will navigate around anything and does an amazing job at getting out of stuck. However, others say that the map is not as smart as advertised, and it has a difficult time getting a good map set up.

They are still going strong. Everything I said previously applies, and I'm just as satisfied if not more. Smart mapping is still problematic. The Roomba and Braava don't share maps. So each one has to create it's own map and you have to manage them separately. I have also ended up moving the base station a few times because of changes and remodeling I'm doing, and each time the map is completely lost and has to be re-learned. It doesn't really bother me because I just do clean all jobs and let it run until it's completely done. The other issue I've had which I don't think I can really blame on the roomba is that my bed has legs that are kind of an arc (sort of like a rainbow) from the mattress level to the floor. This creates "ramps" where the legs meet the floor. At least every other if not two out of three times the roomba will get stuck on the ramp. I wish it wouldn't, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape, I can see why it's a problem. I just close the bedroom door if I'm going to be out of the house and have it run unattended, and only vacuum the bedroom when I'm home to assist it if it becomes stuck.
Original review: 12/20/2020
I purchased two of these. One was for me, and one for my mother. I am keeping mine, returned the one for my mother. I have a cat, and while it watches the roomba or just goes downstairs, it doesn't really bother the cat. My mother has a toy poodle that is terrified of the roomba and will hide for hours and leaves it shaking. I had to return hers because of this, not due to a functionality issue. If your pets are high strung, you might want to make a test run with someone else's if possible.
Pro's:
1. Works like a charm. It has only been stuck once (hung up on curtains that were on the floor)
2. It took about three cleaning cycles to map the area. Once I did that, it cleans the floors while I'm at work and I come home to a clean house.
3. The app is easy to use. I can start a cleaning cycle while I'm away, and I get notifications on my app if there are any issues (Only useful if I am home to help, but still..) It was simple to set up. Download app, press two buttons on roomba, enter wi-fi password, and 2 minutes later you're done and ready to go. I couldn't ask for a better experience.
4. The app allows you to create zones in your house. You can do a clean all task or only do specific zones. You can also make no vacuum areas.
Con's:
1. It is somewhat loud, and when the roomba returns to the base it starts a VERY loud fan/vacuum in the base that sucks debris out of the roomba itself for a minute or so. If you sleep lightly, don't expect to run it while you're napping.
2. I moved the roomba once to the other side of the living room. When I did, it lost the map of the house completely. It needed to re-map the floor from scratch. It didn't affect me too much because I hadn't customized the map or set up and named zones, but for someone who had, this could be very irritating.
3. Other reviews complain about roomba's breaking and having to be replaced, especially after the 1 year warranty runs out. Because of this, I purchased the Assurian 3 year warranty. If comparing cost, consider the additional cost of the warranty if you have similar concerns.
4. It leaves about an inch of uncleaned area around the roomba base. You will need to move them and clean around the bases periodically or if noticable.
5. It gets 95% of the dirt off your floor. You will still need to vacuum once a month or so to ensure you clean under furniture, around the roomba base, baseboards, corners, nooks, and crannies. This is in the cons section, but no other robotic vacuum avoids this and I don't see it as a knock against the product, just something that you will deal with when you use ANY of these vacuums.
The roomba isn't the perfect set it and forget it robot. You need to tidy up before vacuuming by ensuring there isn't anything on the floor such as clothes/cloth, cables, or anything else that could get sucked into the roomba (be cautious of phone charging cables attached to a wall charger). I don't say this as a con, because it's not like you wouldn't have to do this if you were vacuuming manually, but other reviews complain about this. Be aware of the completely reasonable limitations. This does however somewhat limit the benefit of the app because you need to prep the area before setting the roomba loose. It limits your ability to just randomly set a job up when you're away from home. I'm not disappointed or upset about it, just a need to pre-plan. I also purchased the S9+ vs the S9 which comes with the cleaning tower for an additional $200. You can buy it either way so it doesn't affect the review per se, but I feel the cost is worth not having to perform maintenance on the roomba every time you vacuum.
The time I will save vs manually vacuuming a couple of times a week (cat fur) is well worth it over time. I chose the S9 instead of the 7 because of it's filtration and better corner cleaning. The hepa-lite filter seems to make a difference with cat dander as well. Supplies aren't unreasonable and appear that they will not be an onerous cost. I have hardwood and tile floors and do not use it on carpets so I can't make a judgement as to performance on carpets.

**Update** it has been over a year I purchased this bundle. I absolutely loved the way they worked. Just couldn't get them to communicate so mopping could automatically start once the vaccum finished. But no big deal for me. But my mop started having issues 2 weeks ago. I keep getting a message that it needs to reboot. I have done all I could to do this and also spoke to Irobot customer service for help. They told me it has a hardware issue. But since a year has passed the warranty is over and they will only give me $75 if I trade it in. I thought I had gotten the extended warranty but I guess I did not. This sucks because these are so expensive.
Absolutely love this bundle! These little guys have freed up so much time for me. Tip 1) put all your chairs, plants, trash bin, and any other items that might be on the floor (shoes, toys) ontop of the countertop/table/ sofas when you do the mapping run for both robots. This will speed up the mapping run and will allow these little guys to understand your home layout better. Do one run with all the lights on and another in the day with just the light from your windows coming in. They don't do well in the dark. The noise the vacuum makes while vacuuming is not bad at all, just when it empties itself it sounds like a regular vacuum cleaner. I personally put all my stools, chairs and hampers up on the countertops when I have them clean, this way it's faster and you don't have to worry about them getting stuck anywhere while your gone.
Tip 2) if you have a rug that has bumpy texture or tassels like mine does remove the little brush that spins on the vacuum because the brush can get damaged. I also pick up my bathroom rugs because the vacuum with the little brush on would have a hard time getting on the rug. What I did on the app I put a "keep out zone" for my living room rug and a "clean zone" as well. This way when it does the living room it will stay away from the rug and only go when I tell it to do the "clean zone" this way I can remove the brush.
Tip 3) To do the Mapping Run for the mop make sure it has the DRY sweep pad on otherwise it won't do the run. The mop does recognize carpet so it doesn't spray near it. With the mop when I do the entire house I have to be home because it will run out of water, the water tank is small. I have about 1700 sq. Ft. of tile I have to refill 3 times. Sometimes I do a certain areas one day and another the next day when no one will be home. Maybe someday the mop will be able to refill on its own. Doing these things are no big deal compared to doing your own sweeping and mopping.
Tip 4) wet the wet pad when you are ready to use the mop it cleans better that way. I doesn't have to be soaking wet just a bit wet. I somtimes use a spray bottle to do this. Remove the wet pad when it's done so the pad won't get stinky. I remove the wet pad, soak it in hot water with a little bit of detergent for a few minutes and lightly wash it with a cleaning brush and hang it with a clothes pin on a hanger. I do this because I don't want to just throw a little item into my washing machine or wash it with clothes. But they are washing machine safe.
One thing I do have to complain about is that they come with very limited instructions. I had to Google a lot of information but I think I added some important info here on this review. I hope these tips help!
Ps. I added a pic of my rug so you have an idea of the kind I'm talking about and also a pic of where I hang them to dry after I wash them.

Please read all of this - my frustration with this product has finally gotten the better of me.
This product is an absolute piece of garbage. The cleaning is ok and just ok. It does make it more convenient to keep the floors clean - I hate doing floors and toilets - but who doesn't.
After researching and waiting, I was so excited to get this product on promotion during the holidays. However, my excitement has gone down the toilet and my experience has been way less than stellar. Now after having it for a little over 3 months, I have to figure out how to tell my husband that it's really not working and let's get something else. It's making me really want to do this #%&$!$%#@$%^&*%! If you know what I mean.
I do have a lot of square footage in my home to map (about 2600 sq ft), so I was prepared to be patient. However, what I experienced as way beyond my expectations. It took 3.5 solid weeks of mapping to get both robots mapped. Several times I had to pick up the robot and start it in a room and pray it would find it's way back home. If and when it finally did, it would create a 2nd floor if you will in the app. It did finally merge with the first map but took a while.
Smart mapping is dumb mapping - you have to run both of them separately to get 2 different maps with 2 different sets of room sizes and furniture locations. One can't work off the other and adjust for footprint size of the robot. It's a computer program and math - why can't you. Duh... that WOULD be smart mapping.
Now, I magically have an extra room that got created within a room for no reason at all AND I CAN'T DELETE THE ROOM DIVIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to get rid of the unneeded room. (I have a triangle within the dining room.) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app several times to no avail. The program keeps crashing on me. I've even tried it on a different device - NOTHING.
All Smart Map does for you is start the 2nd robot after the first one is done - and then you have to wait until it's COMPLETELY done to start. So if robot 1 takes 1.5 hrs to complete several rooms, robot 2 can't start until after robot 1 is done. Smart would be that after robot 1 is out of an area robot 2 starts. So, in order to get floors done in a timely fashion, it's quicker and easier to start the 2nd robot while 1st is still going but out of the area.
Don't get me started on the robots' performance. They both CRASH and I do mean CRASH into everything still. They go where they're not supposed to (Keep Out Zones) and don't go where they are (Clean Zones) - or they'll clean partial of an area. I've rebooted several times to no avail.
I tile though out my home, so it should go fast and easy - right? Yeah - not! The vacuum doesn't get everything all the time and the mop...... The mop has a 12 inch pad that does a spot about 4 inches wide. No wonder it takes hours to do daily cleaning.
The way IRobot has the system set up it sometimes takes 3-4-5-6 attempts at starting a cleaning job to get the robot to go. Then when it gets back it can take up to 15 minutes to save the cleaning map. I hate to think what would happen if I actually scheduled it to run a favorite at a certain time every day. Probably wouldn't start on time or at all.
And don't try to just clean an area without having a favorite made. It doesn't like that. It won't start.
Oh, and docking. The vacuum gets back ok the majority of the time, but the mop has a lot of issues. Just found it this morning not fully on the dock and not fully charged from 3 days ago. Looked like it was on but not. It even registered last week that it was back and docked properly. Before you ask - no pets or kids to interfere. Just my husband and I. He doesn't go near either robot and I know to step around.
Customer service is a joke - I've been put on hold so they can check with someone else because they don't know. Customer service has to call customer service. There's a laugh!!!!! And if you check that IRobot can contact me, they don't - or if they do, it's a standard e-mail that follows a flow chart because Hey "You're too stupid to use the help they offer online" and all they do is re-repeat what you've already read and tried and done.

These are expensive devices. With that said, it places a high bar on what we expect these devices to do.
I didn't expect miracles, but I have significant floor space, and we NEED to reduce the time required to maintain this house. If I deep mop the entire floor, it will use the entire reservoir and then some. Filling up the reservoir takes a lot less time than cleaning the whole floor. Plus, because it can go under our furniture (we adjusted some shelves, but otherwise it was readily able to go under most of our furniture already), it cleans areas that we wouldn't clean most times. That is a great positive, but it couldn't get by without some negatives. And that came when around half of the reservoir was used to finish the floor. I didn't think anything about it at the time, but found out at the next mopping that the reservoir must be full to mop. It refused to do anything with half a tank. I even have a specific area that uses less than that (and I want it mopped more frequently), but that idea was a no go.
Setting up the zone was a little rough as well. Because our area is large enough to require more than a reservoir to clean (on the lightest cleaning settings), we found that the mop would start all over when we filled it up. For those with smaller areas, this is less likely to be an issue. We attempted to set the mop to ONLY map after that - but it still sprayed as it went about its business.
So our first mopping resulted in some REALLY clean areas - and some completely missed areas. The mapping should probably be done WITHOUT cleaning (says faster) to start. After the mapping is done, zones can be set up so that the mop can be directed to clean as required. Large areas make this quite necessary. After the mapping was done, we set up zones, and found that a much better way to mop = aside from the fact that a partially empty reservoir requires a complete refill - even if there is enough to complete another zone.
I haven't done much in terms of reusing the mop heads. I have a floor steamer, and I would pull the head off and throw them in the washer - then reuse. But for this mop head, it indicates that it is hand wash only. That is a serious drawback. Design wise, if the mop had a locking mechanism for velcro, the mop head could be safe for the washer. This makes the cost AND the waste of the mop significantly higher than it needs to be. Anything that made cleaning better so it could be reused would be beneficial.
They also indicate that you MUST use proprietary (read - expensive) cleaners. Online, many consumers indicate that they use much cheaper solutions with no problems.
Now for quirks I didn't see coming. The mop gave up in the middle of a cleaning. It said that it was too dark, and just canceled the cleaning. This means that, while the mop is quiet, it really doesn't like to clean in the dark. Since I don't want lights on by where people sleep, it does limit mopping at night (though the restriction is similar to the vacuum - though for entirely different reasons [Read Below for Vacuum review]). Also, it hates chairs. They do work around chairs, but not well. We just move all chairs from tables and areas that are more prone to dirt prior to cleaning. It isn't just slow, it takes like 10x the time when a chair is identified. And that means - it will still be that slow if the chair is moved. The mop doesn't really recognize that the chair has moved.
Considering all the issues , this mop is really short of my expectations. I would say 3 stars.
That said, the Vacuum is the more expensive of this bundle. And it does better. Ultimately, leaving this bundle as a 4-Star rating.
It is loud, but the base is on the opposite side of the house as the sleeping areas. So I don't have an issue running the vacuum in those areas while people are sleeping. Even with how loud the base is, it isn't an issue for us (though I can understand that it could be for some). The mapping took forever, though to be fair, we did it with a cleaning. I have to recommend that people do a MAPPING run before cleaning. It may even be best to clean before mapping (Counterintuitive right!)
Overall, it cleans well. It has some quirks where it will get stuck or run over some stuff that needs to be manually removed. Like (oddly enough) - how the vacuum can't go into the bathroom. It will see the floor mat and stop working. Other things I would expect are when an object is just the right size for the vacuum to pick up - but not fully suck up. It can get stuck in the roller. Then the vacuum waits for the user to clear everything to resume operation. I haven't had permanent damage to the rollers when this happens, but I am aware of the complaint from other users. We try and pick up ALL big objects prior to vacuuming.
Better yet, we try to encourage not having stuff on the floor to begin with. IF this seems like an impossibility, then these vacuums may not be for you. However, if you are organized and disciplined enough to have everything removed from the floor that shouldn't be vacuumed, it is good.
Even so, bigger toys that are a couple inches wide have been identified by the vacuum, but it stopped sucking it up and moved on quickly. Honestly, I was happy with the outcome. Overall, I like the vacuum. I haven't had to change the bag in the base yet, and I hope that it won't be too wasteful, but it really saves us a lot of time. And we are really happy with the results. It doesn't replace all vacuuming and cleaning, but it really does the 90% well.
I wasn't sure how well the Roomba would work. I especially wasn't sure how well it would "learn" a map of the house and be able to navigate it in a reasonable manner. I was impressed on both counts.
The Roomba (this specific model, as I haven't had an earlier version) not only works really well from a vacuuming perspective, but it has done a remarkable job learning the house. Until I saw it working its way around legs on chairs, and under things like our bed, I really hadn't thought about how detailed the map would have to be. It's still learning after multiple runs, but it has become noticeably quicker in how well it moves from place to place. I originally thought that it's somewhat random patterns of navigation would continue, but as it has learned that has given way to a much smoother transition from relatively straight runs across the room to diving under furniture. We decided to move the base station after the map was mostly complete, and I thought it might get confused. Nope. It figured out where it was and returned to the base station to dump the vacuum and charge itself up. It's really pretty slick how well it tracks where it is, and can scoot back to the base station when it needs to.
As for the vacuuming, we have two dogs, one of which is a retriever that sheds constantly, and two cats, one of which is a long-hair which leaves clumps of hair around randomly. We're constantly dealing with hair, tracked in dirt, and whatever cats leave on the floor occasionally. The Roomba has done a great job cleaning up after the endless tumbleweeds left by the dogs. I thought my wife would be annoyed by the noise (our only negative comment), but she's so happy with the floors that she's willing to work around that. The animals became oblivious to the Roomba within 15 minutes, and they now just stay out of its way. It's almost funny how oblivious they have become to it.
As to the noise, yeah, it can be noisy, but it sort of blends into the background. You can turn down the suction of the thing, but then what's the point? All in all, very pleased with the performance. We're still not running the mop unit, as we're trying to sort out the best place to put it, but that will be for another installment. Right now I highly recommend...we'll see if it holds up.
Minor Update, 6/24/2022: So far the Roomba is still doing a great job. I've started seeing a couple minor things that could use some work. First is the battery life. It seems to run well on the hardwood, but cleaning the bedroom, which is carpeted with a high pile carpet, really sucks the juice out of it. It will quit partway into the job and head home to dump the dirt and recharge. I would also like to see the controls moved to the cloud so that it could be managed remotely, or a couple people could manage it, i.e., my wife and me in this case. Maybe it has that flexibility and I haven't found it.
On the plus side, the app let me know that I needed to service the brushes, which was a snap--they pop right out. This sort of reminder for a machine that generally operates autonomously is great, as it might be overlooked otherwise.
Minor Update, 7/24/2022: As I mentioned before, the animals adapted to the Roomba very quickly. Today I watched our retriever not want to budge for the Roomba. So, it nudged its way around him, even nudging in between his spread out legs. I don't think it even touched the dog. While I realize that not all dogs will get this comfy with a gadget like this, after watching how the Roomba interacts with the animals, I'm even more sold on it. (I found one of the cats draped across the mop the other day while it was in the charging station. It seems these things have been assimilated into the pack of our critters.)
Minor Update, 3/25/2023: The Roomba continues to perform well. It's still working as advertised in terms of cleaning. I thought I might mention that it does have one quirk a regular vacuum does not: It can get lost. We've had a couple times now where the Roomba has managed to lock itself into a bathroom. It was trying to get behind the door and managed to push the door closed. We only found it when we noticed it hadn't returned to the charging station. It has also managed to get itself stuck behind the sofa. After a while it finally gave up trying to escape and shut down. Fortunately, it let the app know that it was stuck and needed help. I had to use the "find" feature in the app to figure out where it had gone. These are not show stoppers at all, but they are different problems than you might have with a standard vacuum--none of which I have had have ever taken off and gotten themselves lost or trapped.
Another Update, 1/6/2004, and my first critical comments: The Roomba is still working well, but after living with it, I do have a couple critical observations. 1. Comparing it to a regular vacuum, the Roomba is, honestly, more fragile. Vacuum cleaners are pretty simple devices--they suck up dirt. You either empty the canister or bag, and that's about it. The Roomba is more complex. The Roomba has sensors that detect when things are full of dirt (a plus, right?). Those can get dirty, and the Roomba may not want to launch until they've been cleaned. You actually have to manually clean the thing now and again. 2. The internal filter has to be replaced occasionally. The rollers and the edge brush wear out, and have to be replaced from time to time. which I mentioned above. The Roomba will let you know how much life you have left in these parts, but it's not just a "fire and forget" sort of device. 3. Also, because the Roomba takes off on its own, it can get lost or stuck. It's not a big deal, but it did manage to get itself stuck under a dresser, and had to be rescued. It does have a feature to locate it, so at least it's easy to find. So, do I still think it's a great gadget? Yes. That said, I sounded like a fan boy, and I thought it would be fair to show off a couple of its warts.

After about 2 weeks of ownership, I can't say I'm thrilled with the purchase. There are a few very good things about this compared to my old botvac (A Samsung R9350 which was sadly retired because you can no longer find replacement batteries for it - thanks Samsung!), but some that are extremely disappointing.
The good:
Virtual walls, you can set up specified cleaning areas (IE: "front of couch"), performs well on hard surfaces and follows a neat and orderly path, unlike my old botvac, does not (usually) have a tendency to get stuck or beat the crap out of the furniture, and is short enough to fit under base cabinet overhangs and standard bedframes, and finally, doesn't have a problem with black carpet.
The bad:
The very first cleaning run, the CleanBase clogged. The inlet is just too small if there is a lot of debris, and believe me, there was a lot of debris since who knows when the last time anyone vacuumed under the beds. The second run, the vac would not dock. It turns out the corner brush became snarled, and cause the vac to be up to high to touch the contacts. The main problem, however, is with pet hair on carpet. The photos I took show the amount of pet hair left on my area rug after 3 (THREE!) different passes. This is where the old botvac outdoes the S9, as the old vac had bristle brushes instead of rubber rollers, and those brushes really helped to lift the hair. The rubber rollers often just catch on the rug and stop altogether, and it's a very short pile rug. So pet owners - if you have rugs or carpet, this may not be the best botvac for you.
The botmop, on the other hand, is brilliant. Yes, you have to fill it and change the pad after each run, but it's a small price to pay for being able to largely avoid doing that task manually. Being able to set an automatic cycle where the mop runs right after the vac is also great. The only gripe with the botmop is that it cannot traverse carpet or rugs to get to other areas, and we have a small area on the other side of our rug we wish it could reach. One other thing to watch out for are higher thresholds between rooms. The botmop would not traverse these until after a map was created, after which we could define where high thresholds are and the bot would then power over them. EDIT - 7/2023: The botmop worked great for some time after purchase. I don't know what happened, but the great performance of the botmop has just gotten progressively worse over time. It has just seemed to get "dumber", so I don't know if they are pushing bad firmware or what. It gets lost just coming off of the docking station and just spins, it has a hard time leaving the docking station if the wheels are the slightest bit wet (though I fixed this by gluing some sandpaper into the little wheel divots in the docking station), it can no longer get over thresholds it never used to have trouble navigating, it gets caught under furniture it never used to get caught under... iRobot really needs to do better.
For both, the consumables are a bit of an annoyance - especially for the botvac since I never had to replace a bristle roller in 2+ years of use of the old botvac, and apparently these rubber rollers and the corner brush need frequent replacement, but the washable wet pads for the botmop make that much more economical than a manual Swiffer WetJet.
Would I recommend? I think pet owners with rugs/carpets - especially those with dogs that shed a lot - may want to look elsewhere for something with bristles. But anyone without pets or with nothing but hard flooring should seriously consider this.

This product is amazing. Seriously. I have a 1000 sqft apartment with many rooms and differing floors types and both the S9 vacuum as well as the M6 mop perform excellently.
I’m a big fan of IoT (lighting, security, climate control, device handoff, sound systems, etc) and automation in general and just had to try this duo. I’ll start with the S9, then the M6, and then review of the app.
The S9 has incredible suction power which can be adjusted depending on your needs. It knows what surface it’s on and adjusts accordingly. It’s very intelligent at getting out of corners, under furniture, over small cables. The mapping capabilities are excellent, with some kinks to we worked out on the app side. More on that later. If it can’t finish and area with the charge it has, it will go back home to charge before continuing where it left off. It does make a good bit of noise, even on standard suction, but if you run the S9 when you’re out of the house like I do, this usually isn’t an issue (for reference it’s still quieter than a standard plug-in vacuum). I have had some issues with the device getting stuck, but these things will never be perfect. Usually if this occurs it’s because furniture had been moved too close to other furniture or things have been left on the floor such as clothing.
For the M6 mop, all of the same comments above apply with the exception of noise - it’s nearly silent besides the device actually moving around. It does an excellent job of recognizing what is carpet and what is everything else. Like the S9, it even detects tougher spots that may require a second pass or stronger scrub. The only obvious feature of the M6 that does require more tending to than the S9 is the fact that the water & concentrate need to be added manually and more frequently. You obviously don’t have a way to fill it automatically and no debris is being “picked up” for it to go dump somewhere like the S9 does, so I usually run the mop bi-weekly as opposed to the S9 running 3 times per week.
Really, the most important part of my review is the following section highlighting the beauty (and slight shortcomings) of the app and the connectivity of these devices.
In chronological order of my experience, the setup process for these devices is super straightforward. As long as you have ample connectivity throughout your home, these devices live-update seamlessly. When one device maps, it updates the map across both devices. If you’re impatient like me, I strongly recommend using the “mapping runs” initially so that the devices display your home in a plan view quickly and allow you to select your rooms, your “no-clean” zones early on. Otherwise, you’ll just have to let them clean while mapping, which honestly isn’t a big deal if you’re willing to wait. This brings up the first shortcoming of the app. iRobot makes reporting issues super easy on the app, however, I have had no luck with them actually fixing the things I’ve reported. The best example is that when my robots performed their mapping runs at the beginning, they created a “room” that is totally separated from the rest of the home. The cause of the issue stemmed from the robots trying to map every nook and cranny and when they went down a small path that appeared to be separated from the room, the robots did not properly register that this area was in fact connected to the closet. I’ve reported this issue several times with no luck, but it really hasn’t caused any issues. Other beautiful features of the app include health-metrics on the devices which tell you when you need to replace/refill items or even just clean them yourself if that is all that’s required. I got updates on what room they’re cleaning real-time and when a job is successfully completed (or why it wasn’t successfully completed to impediment etc). You can create schedules, automations, tell them clean areas locally, and much more. You can specify how they clean specific areas - like for example if you want the device to use high suction and 2-passes for a kitchen vs low-suction and 1 pass for a closet.
A feature I’d like to see added would be potentially a live feed camera (assuming the hardware is capable) so that I can actually see what the robots are doing.
Honestly there’s a lot more I could write but if you’ve made it this far you should really have all the important stuff you need to know! 10/10 recommend if you’re a clean freak and you’re good with gadgets/automation. I can see how this might not be the most friendly device to those who aren’t at least decent with technology or generally clean/organized in the first place, but I think part of the beauty is that this thing can be used no matter what your experience level is what I’ve what mentioned.

I've had these for the past month and a half now and feel confident enough to now write a review of my first thoughts. I'll update this again as time goes on.
Where I came from: I've had a couple Neato vacuums for the past 8 years and got tired of having to replace batteries every few months and the constant getting stuck. I even replaced the control boards a couple times over the years. Sometimes it was getting stuck under or behind something and other times there was no reason for it. I went with Neato initially because it used logical back and forth rows to vacuum a room which was more efficient than the roomba's random appearing motion. With the advances that Roomba has made, it was time to give them a shot.
As a technology geek, the software features attracted me as much as the hardware features. Auto mapping of a house, drawing exclusion zones, defining specific rooms or areas with names for use with home automation appeared to be great. I also love that the completion of vacuuming can trigger the mopping schedule.
When I got the vacuum & mop, I did their auto-mapping of the house which turned out to be quite accurate. It did get stuck behind couches during this so was a bit cumbersome to monitor but after two runs with each, I had the bottom floor mapped out. The software guesses where rooms begin/end. This was pretty accurate and I only had to adjust a few things to get it just right. I created exclusion zones for behind the couches that it would get stuck or tangled up in cords to prevent that from happening and then linked it to my Amazon Alexa account.
Next, I defined two small areas just to mess with people's heads. I called these two small areas, one in my kitchen and one in the family room, "this spot" and "that spot". I will stand in the kitchen in the area I defined as "this spot", which is also in front of the Echo Show, and state "Alexa, ask roomba to vacuum this spot", as I point down. This is just for show, of course, since the pointing and camera integration with echo is well beyond its level of capability. The vacuum will come out of its dock, make its way to the kitchen and vacuum that little area I defined and go back to the base. For the finale, I say "Alexa, ask roomba to vacuum that spot" as I point in the Family Room at the area I defined as "that spot". Again, the vacuum comes out of its base and diligently vacuums "that spot". People are impressed. ;)
The vacuum works much better than the neato. The neato didn't have an edge brush so left the edges of rooms a bit dirty over time. The roomba edge brush works really well. As the vacuum transitions from hardwood floors to carpet, the suction motor intelligently ramps up to ensure it cleans carpets as effectively as on bare floors. Impressive! It also no longer makes what appears to be random movements but rather vacuums a room in rows just like the Neato did. Neato! The last pass through a room is around the edge with the edge brush to ensure very little is left on edges and in corners. And when it returns to the base station, it's sooo nice to not have to empty the vacuum every time as it empties itself now. I haven't been notified to change the bag in the base station yet which is nice as well.
The mop is a different story. I read reviews where it was said that it didn't clean very well and didn't spray very evenly and was useless. So I was pleasantly surprised that it met all of my expectations. The level of cleaning is adjustable in the app based on how dirty you feel it is, which controls the amount of passes over an area and amount of cleaning fluid it uses. I have mine on the medium setting which works just fine for me in the kitchen to keep spots off the floor. When it runs out of fluid, it returns to the base station and notifies me in the app. Once refilled, it will pick back up where it left off to complete the cleaning job.
How mine is set up:
I defined my cleaning job to vacuum every room in the house, except one. After it vacuums, the braava jet is triggered to mop the kitchen. If I need the entryway mopped, I trigger it to clean that area manually using the app or by using Alexa to have it done. The photo attached shows the report after the vacuuming portion is done. There is a second, similar report for the mopping. The report shows my 'Keep out' zones by couches in my living room and the back door. The boxes it didn't clean scattered about are from furniture it had to go around.
Improvements that could be made:
1. The level of cleaning on both the vacuum and mop are global settings meaning you set it and then all activities are using those settings. It would be nice to be able to adjust it by room or defined area. My kitchen needs more attention than my hallway with the mop.
2. I expected the braava jet to remind me to change pads, but it does not. I am currently using the single use pads and have never been told to change it even after a couple weeks of use. It does detect what kind of pad is being used so it is capable to doing this.
3. The noise level is higher than my Neato was. Not just from the vacuuming sound but rather from a vibration type sound. I wish it just sounded like a vacuum.

BEWARE 110 Volt (USA Product)

This Product is specified for 110 volts usage (USA). It does not work with 220 volts wall power supply (UAE / EU etc)! Unlike most modern appliances, it is NOT DUAL VOLTAGE rated.
